MOSCOW - After Roberto Mancini, it was Javier Zanetti's turn to answer questions at today's UEFA news conference:

Is the situation the same as last season when after two defeats against Sporting Lisbon and Bayern Munich the turning point came after the double victory over Spartak Moscow?
"Maybe. Let's hope so. In any case, it will be a very hard match against an excellent team. A balanced team like ours can do it."

CSKA Moscow v Inter has a Brazil v Argentina flavour to it - the Russians have a lot of good Brazilian players in their team.
"This may be true, but I think that the Brazilians and Argentines will forget about their nationalities and will just be thinking about Inter and CSKA. It won't be easy, but we're confident."

Would you be prepared to play in defence if Roberto Mancini asked you to?
"The coach still hasn't said anything to me, but there's no problem for me if I'm needed in defence. I would do it more than willingly. It's a role I know well and I have played there for my national team."

What memories do you have of Moscow?
"We have never played easy matches in Moscow. I remember that great goal by Ronaldo, but I also remember what happened with Corrado Verdelli on the bench. We have always played important matches here, and tomorrow is no exception."

This season's Champions League will be played here in Moscow...
"You can dream about reaching the final, but there's still a long way to go. Our first goal is to reach the round of sixteen and after that we hope to come back here in May."

Iraq captain wins Facchetti award


MILAN - Younes Mahmoud Khalef, captain of the Iraqi national team, is the winner of the second edition of the Giacinto Facchetti international award.

Younes will be presented with a bronze sculpture and a cheque for 10,000 euros, to be donated to the charity of his choice.

The awards ceremony, to take place on Monday 5 November, will be attended by the Facchetti family, Inter president Massimo Moratti, FIFA president Sepp Blatter, Italian FA president Giancarlo Abete, Italian Football League president Antonio Matarrese and other personalities from the world of sport.

The Facchetti award was founded by Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport in memory of the late Inter great, who died on 4 September 2006.

Last year's winner was Paraguayan player Julio Gonzalez. Formerly of Vicenza Calcio, Gonzalez continued playing after losing an arm in a road accident.
