Hodgson joins Inter as consultant, say press
England manager hopeful Roy Hodgson has quit his post as Finland coach to become a consultant to Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti, press reports in Italy said Saturday.
Hodgson, who coached Inter from 1995-97 and then again briefly from 1998-99, came close to leading Finland to the Euro 2008 finals.
But newspapers here quoted Finnish FA spokesman Pekka Hamalainen as claiming Hodgson has already joined Inter.
Hodgson had been believed to be in the runnning to become the next England manager, or even the next boss of Scotland or the Republic of Ireland.
But press reports here say that instead he will be charged with looking after Inter's interests with G14 - the elite grouping of 18 of the richest clubs in Europe.
Hodgson is a well travelled coach who previously took charge of Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, Blackburn Rovers and clubs in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Switzerland and Italy.
The Inter Milan website makes no mention of the reported signing.
