Ice Hockey: Iran qualified for World Ice Hockey Championships!

Iran's national ice hockey team will leave for Dusseldorf on Thursday to take part in World Ice Hockey Championships.

Last year, Iran's national team ranked third in their debut in the Asian competitions held in India and qualified for the World Ice Hockey Championships in Germany as Asia's third representative in the event.

Head of Ice Hockey Federation Jamshid Vaziri said Tuesday that after winning the third place in Asia last year, three camps were held for the players from the beginning of the current Iranian year on March 21.

Commenting on Iran's rivals in the German event, he said that Iran will face Mexico, Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

"Given the antiquity of the sport in European countries, they have high capability which is not comparable to those of Asian teams.

World Ice Hockey Championships will be held for ten days in Germany and Iran's team will return on July 25.

I can understand field hockey (real one) being played, but ICE HOCKEY ??
