we always won medals in freestyle because we had good wrestlers. I think you aren't following Iran's wrestling at all, otherwise you would now that this year (on paper) we have the most hopeless freestyle wrestling team in recent times.

Same thing goes for weightlifting. Looking at the records of our weightlifters, a medal seems out of reach.

so it seems you are the one who hasn't done his research. You just take it for granted that since we always win medals in freestyle, we will win again this year.

Morad Mohammadi-Won GOLD at the World Championships
Reza Yazdani- Twice got BRONZE at the World Championships (its not the best in the world, but not too bad)
Saman Tahmasebi-won GOLD at the Asian Champiionships, Bronze 2wice at the World Championships and Silver twice at the World Cup of wrestling

Most of them are young upand coming wrestlers....but I still support them in any way I can.....Before sourian even Wrestled you said he wont win shit...stop being Oghdey and support them....and all i said was wait till the whole event is done before criticizing.

Ghorbone dahanet. I dont think we have ever had such weak Freestyle wrestling team. We have almost always had a superstar like, Mohammadian, Khadem Brothers, Jadidi, Talaee, Heidari, Dabir etc.... Theese guys are Medal winner. You could always rely on them because at least one or two would bring us a medal. Now we dont even have a singel Freestyle wrestler who's a natural winner like guys that I mentioned so there.
Our only superstar was (in my eyes) Hamid Sourian, who didn't even manage to win a bronz. And you know why?? Read here:

you are right and we dont have anyone who can naturally gurantee us a medal and all i said was lets stop criticing befor it has even begun...and TM is not guaranteed to make the World Cup....but does that give us the right to say "O they wont make it anywhere they are shit"....before they have been given a chance to compete?

I have been nothing but polite in these forums, but when some of you guys start attacking me personally, bringing in my age etc etc(like as if im stupid) then I tend to get defensive....

                    tashakor,

first of all what we say here doesn't make any difference WHATSOEVER on what will actually happen. some of us think we don't stand a chance , some (including you) think we still have hope left.

So I don't understand why you insist on "not criticizing" our athletes and TARBIYAT BADANI. Its not like our wrestlers are going to read my comments and lose because of me criticizing them.

We are just anticipating what will happen. If you know wrestling well enough, you will know that a gold medal in world championships (or gold medals in other competitions) in NO WAY guarantees a gold in the Olympics.
wrestling depends highly on: 1-luck 2-physical and mental preparation for the specific event. 3-Technical Talent
Our wrestling federation's plan has always been to focus on world championships instead of the Olympics. Remember, an Olympic Wrestler trains for a year just to be at his peak for 4-5 days during the olympics. so usually, a wrestler who has won gold in 2008 world champs, stands little chance of winning in the Olympic if the 2 events are close together. etc etc

Looking at the preperation of our wrestlers, I highly doubt any of them are ready for Olympic gold. Whats more, this year's team does not have any superstar wrestlers like Jadidi, Heydari, Dabir etc.

So as I said, it will be a really pleasant surprise if we end up with a medal in freestyle.

again, I am not sure what you mean by disrespectful.

This is an internet forum for the love of god. Its not like I am calling our wrestlers and swearing at them.

well I have been watching the olympics really closely and its unbelievable how most of the winners are literally "unknowns"...they have no winning history.....its too early to judge...who expected hadi saei to win in Taekwondo...who expected to Ali Malomat...who has no real winning history to nearly win a medal....there is a lot of things that can happen, maybe our wrestlers can bring medals maybe not.....for me personally i tend to wait before judging them.
