    It is a fact that the Olympics are set up in a way that favours certain countries and people with certain physique and certain history. You are absolutely correct, it is somewhat ridiculous to expect Iran to be successful in sports that are not inherently ours to begin with.

      Correct but what I'm saying is that at the least, all sports should be given the same weight. If you're going to have 6-7 variatios of one sport, make sure you have a smiliar number of variation of every other sport. Or how about prevent the same athlete from competing in all the variations, or not have so many variations altogether.

      Someone like Michael Phelps of the US is capable of winning gold in EVERY variation of swimming (As he's doing right now) simply because they're not that different.

        Why the hell are some sports like Karate, Futsal. Sansho and Vusho aren't in the olympics, while they are in asian games. those could give Iran a lot of medals.

          its obvious and which is why i dont take it seriously...i dont care if china has had 500 medals...like you said about 400 of them are probably from the same damn sports

          yea why isn't futsal and rugby a sport?? I couldnt believe when i saw softball...i mean baseball is hardly a sport....softballl dige chi hast

          Also, team sports like basketball, soccer, etc...should count for more than just 1 medal cuz they have so many athletes in each team

              So true, i mean they have to play zillions of games just to get 1 medal for their country, and they're a team. Whilst in Swimming, just 1 person can win 7+ medals! Swimming has WAY TOO MANY variations.

                  I was reading through a blog and came upon this post:

                  While I am at it, this is becoming really ridicules - Do we need THAT many swim races? 50, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500, ..., 4x100, 4x200, ...IS THERE AN END? Just because you are good at a sport you shouldn't invent 50 chances to get a gold metal, seriously. Latest news is that:
                  1. The Brazilians have insisted on expanding soccer in to 11-player, 9-player, 7-player, 5-player matches;
                  2. The Thais have been pushing for adding Transexual to Men and Women divisions;
                  3. The Chinese wants separation of Ping Pong events into paddle holding techniques: forehand, side-way, left-handers, right-handers;
                  4. The Brits have proposed equestrian be organized to Black Horses, White Horse, Striped Horses;
                  5. The Kenians are shooting for more distance races: 10,000, 11,000, 12,000, 13,000, 14,000 - wait, there is a need for 12,500 because it exercise one muscle group in the lower leg slightly differently;

                  More to come.
                  lol

                        This may come as a surprise but the Brazilians have never won gold in olympic soccer history.

                                Well, you could always promote this way of counting olympic medals: http://www.realmansolympics.com/

                                And based on this, we were in 10th position back in 2000 (http://www.realmansolympics.com/?custom=&year=2000#results).
