I gathered some information on the club

they are an average french club. they reached the 8th ranked last season

          http://www.cholet-basket.com/

the good news is that they will play in europe next season.
the europeans reformed their international competitions which makes things look like this now:
there are 3 big competitions now
          1.euroleague
          2.eurocup
          3.eurochallenge
          (in right order of importance)
they are all connected to each other. the winner of the two lower cups, qualifies for the bigger competition in the next season.

          cholet is in the eurocup!
well, they are not there yet, they have to go through the qualifying. if they fail in the quali, they'll have to play in the eurochallenge

all in all samad has chosen a good club to play his basketball in a good environment and improve his game

actually, he is the second Bahrami playing in France. Previously, there was Mansur Bahrami who was playing professional tennis.

good move, if he plays well he could be moving to a bigger club in no time

and haddadi to toronto for suree!! id love if he came..oneal and bosh would help him develop his game and i think hed feel more comfortable with the toronto team (which are a genuiely friendly side, especially with foreigners)

I have a feeling he didn't have many offers and thought that he must grasp the opportunity to play in Europe. After enquiring from someone who actually lives in Cholet it seems that although the French NT is v. good (8th in the world) the league is a developing one in Europe and is certainly not equal to the Spanish, Italian and Russia which at its best really isn't far from NBA standard.

Cholet themselves have got some good players, most noticeably Nando de Colo, French NT player and a star who will enter in the 2009 NBA Draft, so any experience with him would be valuable. Cholet is a rural town, therefore i'm not sure how he will respond to his new environment although the website said that he arrived today with his wife. Anyway, best of luck to Samad, he may get some minutes in tonights friendly vs Le Mans.
