Theorem for calculating Olympics Success

simple theorem I devised (I'm sure someone else already made it up though)

A gold is worth 3 points

A silver is worth 2 points

A bronze is worth 1 point

I think this is a good way to figure out Olympics Success since there is a discrepancy between whether we should value more gold or more medals overall.


With these numbers...

USA -220 pts

PR of China -223 pts

almost a tie

Australia 86 points and has 1/20th of the population of USA and 1/50th the population of China.

Therefore maybe they should be the winner.

My point being there can be many methods of calculating the winner.
