Saha, Johnson and Kevin Philips are all players that have done well in scoring.
    Where are they now?

its a good start and i wish him all the best but dont get your hope up too high brother.
Just scoring goals doenst make you the "IT" thing, lets see how his attitude is and see how his team spirit is, those are the signs you should look for to see if he will be a star player in the best league in the world.

good luck to him. I like Mido and hope this guy can be even better then him.

dont forget james beatie and ricketts.

But you are right, he surely has the potential to be a top scorer.

i hope zaki can get plenty of goals this season..but even if he slows down (since hes scored against lower quality EPL sides), hed still have a successful rookie season if he scores 12-13 goals in the league..hopefully a couple more too in the division cups..
as for a partnership with mido..i dont think mido would fit in well on the team really..and there are better alternatives for 6m pounds, im not doubting his skill..but he seems to bring a hot attitude wherever he goes (in not a long period hes been at quite a few clubs..for short tenures too)
13 goals would be nice for Zaki. I think most Egyptian fans would be happy with that for his first season. As for Mido, loads of talent and can score a number of ways. Though he's known for his headers, interestingly all of his league and cup goals so far this year have come from his feet. However, he always seems to find a way to self destruct. Either he gets out of shape and injured or gets into it with the manager.

He'll never have much more than supplemental role with the national team, with occasional (though potentially valuable) contributions.

I agree bro, we're definitely taking a wait-and-see approach. It is what it is right now, nothing more and nothing less. Nobody knows what will come of his EPL career, or even this season. As far s things like attitude and team spirit though, don't forget that we've been following the guy for years. He didn't just suddenly appear at Wigan. The guy's nickname in Egypt is "gladiator" because of his spirit and determination. He's been as loyal as can be to the national team and has had that same spirit for Zamalek. He's also shined in adverse situations (recall he's the one that replaced Mido in the 2006 African Cup semi-final and scored the winning goal with his first touch - the match when Mido argued with the coach).

Hopefully the early success doesn't get to his head. He seems to have a good supporting cast around him in his parents, wife, and their daughter Khulood. Inshallah that'll keep him focused and his head level.

Elhamdulilah . Definitely the best generation I can remember striker wise. However, I think the team of the early 90s had a better defense, and the 98-2001 team was better in midfield. Overall this is a very balanced squad though.. would be a shame if we missed the World Cup. But hey, at least we earned ourselves back into Pro Evolution Soccer for 2009 .

As for Zaki (and anyone else in life for that matter), the true test will come when he goes through some adversity. Every player eventually does. A small scoring drought, an injury (God forbid), what have you. Hopefully he can come out the other side of that scoring goals again. We can't be certain of Zaki's character until he endures something of an adverse nature in his EPL career.

we have some pretty good strikers, halil, melvut erdinc, and when nihat comes back. im telling you though, ugur boral and gokhan gonul should never wear a national team jersey ever again.

Didn't get to see but apparently he had a decent match. BBC rated him Man of the Match.

Zaki suffered an injury to his calf muscle against Tottenham. It's not said to be serious but he'll miss the team's Carling Cup match on Wednesday.

boral is garbage. last week againt hecceteppe, he was boo'd off the field. gonul makes so many mistakes, but he does do a lot of work running up and down the wing.
