    thank you
i think you should start trimming the list down...
most of the players who dont play for european teams really shouldn't be on the list...egyptian teams like Ahly and Zamalek are competitive enough where the players on those teams are good enough to play for European teams..but many of the Players on Iraq's national team and Saudi's as well would never be able to set foot on the same grass as some of the other Middle Easterners listed.
If your playing in Cyprus or Qatar/Saudi Arabia for example...chances are your not going to represent a Middle Eastern Team that well
I dunno, I don't think playing for a European club is the tell-all. If that was the case, Egypt for instance wouldn't have won back-to-back African Cups with all the European club "stars" that are in that tournament. But maybe that's why you included that Ahly/Zamalek qualifier in your post .

An 18-man squad from that list would probably change each match depending on form.

What would your unbiased (as much as reasonably possible anyway ) starting lineup and formation with the given squad be out of curiosity? I set mine based on form, size and speed in strategic areas, and overall personnel strengths and weaknesses.

Don't know about that bro. So a month or so ago you wouldn't have included Amr Zaky (he was at Zamalek)? Mohammed Abo Treika might be the run-away winner of the 2008 African Player of the Year Award and he doesn't play his club football in Europe. The guy schooled the likes of Toure, Drogba, Eto'o, etc. multiple times now. Ahly and Zamalek, though they've lost to European clubs, also beat them routinely. (All this fuss from me even though I only included 2 Ahly players and 0 from Zamalek on my final list anyway ).

And Iraq has some strong, talented, passionate players that are proven fighters and winners.

Everything has to be taken into account when choosing a team, and I tried to consider all of the following: form, heart/character/pride, talent, intelligence, physique, pace and athleticism.

              --???-------Rezaei---------Servet---------???--
              ------------------Nekounam--------------------

Sorry bro, I should have been more clear, Ahly and Zamalek havegreat players, of course those players deserve to be on the list. What I meant was non-Egyptian clubs and non-Turkish clubs who don't play in a good European league don't deserve to be on the list. Cause only these two countries have decent leagues that can actually not get embarassed in Europe and can even pull upsets.

And I disagree with Iraq, historically outside their Asia Cup fluke, they won nothing. They are the Greece of Asia, they didn't mean make even the final round of WCQ a year after winning that cup. And their players, none I rate highly. I only put Abbas cause there are currently no Left Backs that are decent that I know in the Mid-East. I'd put Zareh in there even, but his he's just a dud lol. And Abbas is just decent, that's about it.

you can disgaree all you want but if Iraq and this generation in particular didnt have the pontential and talented players they wouldve not ruled Asia on more than an occasion. They started off with winning the Asian Cup in Tehran in 2000 in the U-19 level, qualified to the Olympics and finished 4th in Athens in U-23 level, and winning the Asian cup as a senior side in 2007. Not to mention Iraq were finalist in the 2006 Asian Games in Doha.

Are calling these tournaments and achievments nothing and flukes? lol

Wael Reyad just never seemed to progress technically since his promising youth days when he helped Egypt to the bronze at Argentina 2001 . He's fast, but the guy is just too small and weak to make it internationally. He can't even throw enough weight around in the Egyptian league. I think he's on Ahly's reserve squad. Haven't heard his name in ages.

Ibrahim Said may still be the most talented defender in Egypt. Too bad he's a nut case. Always getting into trouble, bad attitude, womanizer, etc. He was part of the team that won the 2006 African Cup, but he's dropped soon after the tournament. I think he's playing with Ismaily these days.

Out of curiosity bro, how do you know about these guys ? I'm especially surprised you know about Wael "Cheetos" Reyad.
