ask them to take all that padding off and then it will be a little more entertaining i think. ppl talk about crunching tackles and such but they do that same stuff in rugby and AFL football with no padding.

Also there is too many ppl and too many stoppages. i think all you need is a good 50 m sprint and u can play becasue there is no need for endurance.

i agree. In afl there is no need for padding, the game is fast and the ppl r strong. rugbyt there is no padding either, nfl however, the players must be weak. remove the padding and let there be hard tackles and injuries, thats the fun of the game lol

lol!! I know where you guys are coming from because I once belonged to the same club given I came to the US at the age of 18 but its not as simple as you think. whcih is the reason why each season has only 16 games.

                    ENDURANCE is paramount!!

In rugby and football all the players are relatively the same size. Amercian football however, is like chess. You hyave 350 pound lines men who can bench press 3 rugby players all at once and you have the skinny and extremely fast wide receiver who is only 185 pounds so when the 220 pound quarterback is sacked by TWO 350 pound linebackers is not the same as having two 200 pound rugby players going at it.

The stoppages make the game interesting becasue thats when coaching comes to play. You cant have 350 pound players play nonstop!! The offensive players are different than defensive players and you have about 80 players on each team because when they hit THEY HIT and there is chance you can never play again!!

its still doesn't explain all that protective gear they wear

rugby is just as tough if not even more and all they wear in rugby is a mouth gaurd and sometimes, very rarely a helmet which is no where near the size of the one they wear in nfl but like the once worn by petr cech.

And also I think Rugby is more skillful and tactical in that there is an offside rule and you cant forward pass the ball. There is not as many stoppages either unlike grid iron where they stop the game every 10secs. In grid iron you can just throw the ball 50-100m for someone to receive. And the rules vary whether your playing union or league.

i appreciate there athleticsm but who can respect a sport that only has 12 games? yet pays one of the highest in the world?

                            seems like stupidity to me.

what do they do the other 9 months?

what does that tell you?? The owners are not donating their money, they are making money!! There is a reason over a billlion people watch the superbowl!! If you understand the game there is no substitute. and becasue there are only 16 games, EVERY game matters, so you cant take a week off

I have friends who never got involved in sports when they were in Iran but once they came here, they just couldnt help it. Its an amazing game
