also the holland of 74 is only the second best team to never win the WC. The best was hungary of 1954. Ironically they both lost to germany!

Thanx for agreeing with the best player comment. He will always be my favourite player ever. The scissor kick he scored for AJAX that actually curled and the volley he scored in the 88 Euro final are 2 of my all time favourite goals.

his goal against germany in the semis of 88 in the 89th minute was a heartbreaker for a german fan like me. That was one of his best goals. I am just glad the revenge was in order 2 years after that!!

and given france finally won one, you can make the argument that after holland, spain is the best to have never won the WC in terms of tradition. but again if you wanna talk about just ONE WC, I odnt think anyone even comes close hungary of 54. They beat the same german team they lost to 3-2 in the final, 8-3 in the group stages!!! I mean how often does a team get scored on 8 goals and still wins the WC

the 3-2 must still be a shocker to the hungarians. It was 2-0 hungary after only 10 minutes. I am sure they thought they were on their way to another 8 goal outburst but the german mentality prevailed!
