Even though I don't support Holland, I must admit that they were unlucky not to have the 2 WC Finals that they played in. They were the better team overall, but they were unlucky that they had to face the hosts in both of the finals.

Van Basten is one of the best footballers/strikers ever, period! Even though I dislike him as a coach, he was one of my fav. players back in the days.

As for the comment about best team never. I mean best NATION never to win it. I dont mean a specific era. Holland has always had a competitive team in most major competitions and always failed to win. Dont forget Holland lost two world cup finals in a row.
Spain doest even come close to being the "best team never to win"
The only really memorable thing Spain have done so far in the World Cup was losing to the beer-drinking jolly no-one-gave-a-shit-about Northern Ireland team 1-0 in Valencia during World Cup '82

I just read that in March 2007 Sky sports named him the #1 player to have had his career cut short by injury.
He would have been one of the top 5 players ever if he finished his career
                  .
Did that list also include a certain Norman Whiteside ?

                      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norman_Whiteside

                      same goal from different angle

                      One man down
                      One goal up
                      Norman Whiteside won the cup!

ex-United and Northern Ireland striker, legendary for scoring winning goals against the much stronger Merseyside teams during the 1980s (including that late winner in the 1985 FA Cup final against Everton in extra time for United down to 10 men), and youngest player ever to play in a World Cup at the age of 17 in World Cup 82. A really hard-as-nails man on the pitch.

Retired at the age of just 26 because of some really bad knee injuries

I enjoyed that game to be honest. It was a long long time ago but i was happy with the Germans of that era.

Obviously i would prefer Holland but they were still great.

Im really sorry Suprah but i cant look at youtube from work and i have no clue about this guy.
Could u give me a brief background?

Same as Spain. They have been the most unluckiest out of all of them. They are the best team in the world with the best players, but they were unable to play together. Now they can and i think they will bring their Euro success to South Africa.

The whole point of this discussion was that Holland over the years have been most unlucky and then u bring up Spain again. Come on man...If u have watched football ever and know its history u will know that Holland will always be named the best country never to win the World Cup.

If u name the Spanish greats i know i can outdo you with the Dutch greats
