Seton hall should have been his choice.

He was offered by quite a few schools....none on the level of Duke or UNC (Maryland has fallen off the map) except for maybe Louisville, where I would have gone because I like Pitino.

anyways, he made the ride decision..he's going to play for a school where he can receive the best possible education of any of the schools that offered him a ride.

        smart kid!

khob hala in shod yeh chizi!! Your title was misleading

But in reality the born part doesnt mean anything. I was born here but I was raised in Iran. I am waaaay more Iranian than most people I see who were rasied here but born in Iran

            A few points

            - Firstly, you took the article I posted to you and made it look like you found it

            - Secondly, this is extremely old news approx 2 months ago Kazemi comitted to Rice

            - Thirdly the title is incorrect he is the first Iranian born player to play NCAA DIVISION 1 basketball. Iranian born players have played NCAA2 + JUCO basketball.

            - Also you guys are forgetting the conditions under which he committed. He is virtually guaranteed minutes next season, if he went to Maryland, North Carolina, Seton Hall etc this wouldn't have been the case.

            - Rice is actually turning into a good college hoops school. They hired Ben Braun, former Cal Bears coach who he took to the NCAA Tournament countless times. They also have a newly renovated arena, Tudor Fieldhouse. Also they have strong recruits for next season including Tamir Cohen and Arsalan. They are a small school that play in a big league, with the likes of Memphis and Houston he is guaranteed to play high calibre games.

            - Rice is producing some good players, recent NBA draftees Morris Almond of the Utah Jazz and Mike Wilks is at Orlando

Im sure they have good recruits, and a new arena, and all the other stuff you said.... but as a huge cal fan, i will tell you that Ben Braun is garbage. You have no idea how glad Cal fans were last year when he left, let alone the Cal team. He makes so many time management mistakes, so many bad substitutions, so many bad play calls. He doesn't adjust to opposite offenses or defenses. He's just not a good coach. If you want proof look at Cal this year. They lost Ryan Anderson, arguably the best Cal player in a decade, and their starting center Devon Harden. The team this year is basically the same as last year with a couple new freshman. And under Mike Montgomery they are only 1 win shy of their total wins from last year, with half the season to go. Its probably a personal thing, but I just dont think Ben Braun is a good coach.

I'm reminded of former NCAA and NBA player Alaa Abdel Nabi (anyone remember him, Egyptian guy)? He was once asked about the academics at Duke (where he played) and said, "Put it this way, the only time I get five A's is when I write my name."
