    blockbuster trade in the NBA

this trade is reported by ESPN today and is waiting for leave approval as of now. this is how it looks. its between raptors and heat.
    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3905146
    To Toronto
    Shawn Marion
    Marcus Banks
    Cash Considerations
    To Miami
    Jermaine O'Neal
    Jamario Moon
    Conditional Draft Pick (2010)

from what i have read, the draft pick has some clauses attached to it. if raptors make the playoffs next year, they will give the pick to miami, but if the raptors dont the pick will be lottery protected and a 2nd round draft pick will be given instead. now if raptors dont make playoffs, the pick will be given to Miami whenever they do make playoffs (lottery protected through 2015). So Miami can possibly get 2 picks out of this deal.

personally i think this is a good trade for both teams. apparently jamario will start in miami at the 3 and so will JO. im not a fan of jamario (doesnt play smart at all). marion is exactly what raptors needed, a tough defender and player on both ends. JO is what the heat needed, a low post presence.
marcus banks will be a solid player off the bench. a shoot-first PG who has good range and good 3 ball, so he will fit in nicely off the bench, adding another shooter for the raptors.

    your thoughts?

This rumour has been flying around for weeks and it finally happens today

Toronto just wanted to open up some cap space, since Marion will be a free-agent after this year and they will probably not re-sign him

miami definitely got the better end of this deal, they finally have a player who can play the center position (call him injury prone but miami had nothing going on for them upfront)..and moon can really do well, hes athletic, hes a pretty good defender..and if he sticks to just what he did in his rookie season and not rush plays...he can do well..

for toronto we get a guy in marion, im not a very big fan of his..and he probably doesnt have a high opinion of toronto..and banks really hasnt played much all year..

i personally think this could put miami in contention for the east if JO stays healthy for the rest of the season..lets see if another O'neal brings fortunes to miami

solid move, but Marions gonna book it outta toronto at the end of the year.

i hope BC makes some good signings/trades for T.O next year. If they traded Bosh for another amazing player it would be nice, since apparently bosh wants out of T.O as soon as his contract expires

Good. O'neil is overrated and injured at all time.

Marions gonna be on the first flight out of toronto once his contract expires ..but im worried about 2010..it can go well if BC makes good decisions but it can also go real real bad if were left without a star player (bosh leaves, lack of drawing big FA, etc)
