Japanese pitchers don't have the best track record.
The first Japanese pitcher in the recent era was Hideo Nomo. He won rookie of the year, lead the league in strike outs, and threw a no hitter. That's not a bad track record to start off with in representing your countrymen.

he didn't do well initially...and his performance really hasn't warranted the contract he's received until recently. His first year he was 3 games above .500...on the SOX of all teams!
His game is BORING but still his stats are class...
      ERA - 2.90 (3rd in American league)
      Wins - 18 (4th in AL)
      Hits Allowed - 6.87 (1st in AL)
And Darvish is conidered a better pitcher than him in Japan right?

14 games above .500 lifetime...era of 4 and a quarter...come on babak, u know a no hitter (in this case 2) is no indication of greatness, unless its Nolan Ryan
