the replay showed higuain's goal was offside..atleast to me, it appeared that way!
but heinze's penalty was a wrong call in my opinion.
to me he appeared to be just onside. but maybe an inch offside? who knows? who should care? anyways, the point of the offside rule is so strikers cant picnic on the opponents goal line... not to take away goals that would happen anyways whether you are 1.2 inches in front or behind the last defender.

Not just slow but they couldn't keep possession as well.
2 years ago barca beat Liverpool in anfield 0-1, while barca got pretty much owned in 1st half but in 2nd half at least we kept possession and created good chances, that was the year liverpool made the final.
don't expect to see milad here anytime soon

Chiellini really cost us the game. I am sure we would have pulled off the 3-1 if he hadn't been sent off. Very immature play on his part on that needless tackle on drogba. I am still proud of them for their display despite having half their starters out to injury and losing Nedved after 7 minutes.

And Giovinco is the rising star of this team. We'll be seeing a lot more of him in the near future.

p.s Chelsea are nothing special. They'll get knocked out next round no matter who they face.

LESS ENGLISH TEAMS PLEASE. GOD this is disgusting.

            2007-2008
2004-2005 (doesnt even count because liverpool is spanish)
            1984-1985

every single liverpool player was playing extremely fast and had better vision than riquelme. madrid players looked lost. i dunno if it was because of the anfield pressure or what? but i have only seen them start a match like that since schuster when we lost to some crappy la liga team. but when it was 3-0 finally the madrid players played at the same intensity and showed the same hunger as the liverpool players which is when we played some amazing football, even with a massive population of liverpool defenders. hats off to benitez... i have never seen a coach have so much control over his players as if he is playing chess with them. watching liverpool was like watching a chess game. every single movement, every single pass, every single look, every single breath the liverpool players took was calculated to perfection. its a shame our players become hungry only after we were 3-0 down. i never saw a gun on any of their heads that said chillax until you get raped, so why this is so is a mystery and shame. the ref looked absolutely horrible with those huge red goggles (not saying liverpool bought him, i am not retarded like people who think teams like real madrid and liverpool buy refs. it was either the anfield pressure or crappy ref skills), giving a free penalty to liverpool, not giving advantage when vdv was kicked in the arm and raul was going to score but he stopped the play, instead gave a freekick, and no card, which robbed us of a goal, disallowing higuains onside goal, giving numerous retarded foul decisions, raul being sandwiched inside the penalty box which is an automatic penalty yet no call. but by saying these i am in no way saying we were robbed, liverpool clearly deserved to win, but by such a large margin? hmm. our defense showed its true self once again. the first goal was gift wrapped, cannavaro brought the wrapping paper and pepe wrapped it for torres. absolutely despicable, mirzapour vs mexico-esque tournament killing mistake. the 3rd goal had sub-dutch league defending which left gerrard all open and put the ball on a platter for him to smash it home. the 4rth goal was expected because everyone was up and we had 3 defenders. thank you cannavaro for winning the fifa world player of the year for italy, but for madrid you gift wrap tournament knocking goals. pepe has been rock solid up to now but today i dont know what happened. maybe the anfield pressure? our best player, and best keeper by far in the world was casillas, lass was also amazing, marcelo was also good. sneijder, raul, higuain, vdv were decent. guti did nothing, i cant believe juande put him instead of saviola. robben? shame on him. only 1 man is more skillful than him on this planet yet he put on harry potters invisibilty cloak. i know he was marked like hell but had a mosquito put on number 11 there would have been no difference. btw for all people talking about the difference in fitness... after real players starting to play like they really wanted it (after 3-0) i did not see that much difference in speed between players from both teams.

              conclusion:

liverpool clearly deserved to go through. thank GOD that we finally deserved to get knocked out. for the first time in the past 5 champions league campaigns we were outplayed over 180 minutes of round of 16. we were unlucky not to score today, and we were unlucky the ref was retarded, so it should NOT have been a blow out, but liverpool clearly deserved to win, and would have won even if the ref didnt mess up. congrats to liverpool, my 2nd fave team, and their product of real madrid coach, and i will be rooting for them like i always do in the champs league (except when they play real of course, but that wont be a problem until perhaps next year).

we can always get something positive from something negative. from this defeat we find out our weaknesses and have a better chance to do another madrid exclusive miraculous liga comeback. what we need to do: guti: he is one of the best passers in the world, and has good free kicks, but he is simply ineffective most of the time, and whenever he is on the pitch we get scored on, and he is too slow. we cant start him anymore. he should only be used as a sub in la liga. he should never play in the champions league again. sell heinze, buy a quality left back, sell cannavaro, buy a quality centerback. sell vdv, buy a replacement for robben. perhaps we could also buy 1 superstar midfielder.

hala madrid! hala spain! hala liverpool!
Dude. Do you not realize teams take their foot off the gas pedal when they're up 3-0?

You always manage to find something to praise RM for. No way in hell does RM have the same level of fitness as Liverpool.

RM players not feeling like playing is just plain BS excuses. So at 0-0 they don't care for playing yet at 3-0 they think they have a chance? RM were outplayed, and outclassed, and RM couldn't put up a fight. It's as simple as that. All the pregame talk, all the pregame league form...out the window. Liverpool 4-0 Real Madrid.

obviously i thought of that. let me break it down for you: "relative" to liverpool when it was 0-0, i did not see much of a difference in fitness when real madrid was losing 3-0. understood? i hope so.

secondly, i was not trying to make madrid look good by saying the above; if anything i was comparing la liga and epl fitness levels. epl does have better fitness, but if you comfortably passed elementary school english you would know what i meant. but as you portray it to be, that is not the case, so i will break it down for you again: "i did not see that much difference in speed between players from both teams." please ask if you want me to put it in microscopic pieces to further assist you with understanding it.

thirdly, i never said "real madrid did not feel like playing," i said that they didnt look as hungry as they should have, but did when they were 3-0 down. please dont post what you want me to say/what your anti-madrid/anti-milad/wanting to bash milad to sound cool and impress faraz and mojo mind which does not let you think normally make you post such irrelevant rubbish. thank you. you are so biased and against me that your brain does not even allow you to have an argument! you immediate perceive something the wrong way and wildly accuse others.

fourthly, my post had nothing to do with liverpool winning 4-0 or pregame talk or 4-0 w.e. again, your messed up mind quickly makes you say this before it allows you to have a chance to open your eyes. lol. you would make a good volunteer for a psychology experiment. and whatever you post next to save face next will not change the fact that YOU KNOW YOU ARE EXACTLY LIKE THIS. so be a man and admit it or be yourself and try to post more rubbish to act like i am wrong. the choice is yours. btw i do not mean to insult you i am just saying the truth.

i agree, i think he is a very good defender but that reckless tackle was very amateurish of him.. he should have held his nerves...
losing nedved so early in the game was also another pity...

btw, bayern set yet another record in champions league,.
the highest goal margin victory in the round of 16 over the 2 legs:
                      Bayern 12 - 1 sporting lisbona

                      http://soccernet.espn.go.com/report?id=260507&&cc=4716

The result was a record aggregate winning margin for a post-group stage Champions League game, surpassing Lyon's 10-2 demolition of Werder Bremen in 2005.

                        That's true obviously!

at that point 3-0 up, R.Madrid had to score 4 goals to turn the tie around, so Liverpool's plan was to ease off and rely on their wonderfully worked counterattacks which I must say is a pleasure to watch. This was so they don't waste extra energy and save some for saturday's game against Man U.

but why would liverpool running fast make real not run fast (when it was 0-0). real could have run fast but they didnt. they did when it was 3-0 though... real could have been just as intense at 0-0 as they were at 3-0... and livepools condition would make no difference on that.

R.Madrid players were so badly affected by the loud noise of anfield as well as Liverpool players giving absolutely no space to them and pressurizing them from their attack!!
very clever tactics by a great coach.
Rm just don't have the same intensity and pace as Liverpool. the players looked so shock as the waves of attack from liverpool came onto them. almost embaressing for R.madrid as I expected to see a contest!!

i told you even the best teams play very bad first halves in Anfield but they pick it up in 2nd like Barca did and won the game.
Not to mention some players in the R.madrid squad don' even deserve a spot in this team!

RM should go back and get a star filled team like they did before with the like of Zidane, Ronaldo, Figo.
