      no it doesnt.

it doesnt mean english football is the best by the way the top teams play.
u also hav to see how bottom/mid table teams play.

and they are the worst among the top league, they play with 7-2-1

but you cant just say man u was better in putting the ball in the back of the goal. sometimes its just luck that someone scores or gets past the defense or w.e. luck is anything that is not planned and just happens. just like a shot is lucky if you dont aim and score. so it might seem like its skill, but luck plays a bigger part than you think.
being clutch is not a microscopic difference. mental strenght is something that is very underrated nowadays.

If you take a shot without aming and you score, it doesn't mean that its luck at all. Your shooting with the intent to score. Your taking a chance. It can go your way (and it will a certain percent of the time), or you will miss. Its as simple as that.

There aren't only two options; luck and skill. Theres intelligence (i.e knowing whens a good time to smash a ball without aiming) and the more intelligent you play, the better your chancing of doing something good. Theres also mental strenght. If your mentally strong enough, you wont be overwhelmed by the situation and hit a spot kick over the bar.

        People make their own luck.

Choking is lack of steel and focus in one's mind. The nervousness, the pressure, the anticipation....if one cant overcome that from his head....they choke.

one player out of 25+ in a club making a decision in a split second causing his team to go out/advance while the other 99.9% of the game is played another way is a microscopic difference.

                        Mourinho 'assault' investigated

Police are investigating an allegation of common assault made against Jose Mourinho after a Champions League tie.

It has been alleged the Inter Milan manager punched a supporter as he left Old Trafford stadium after his team's defeat by Manchester United.

Police have contacted United to request CCTV footage of the area and have confirmed a complaint has been made.

Inter Milan have denied the allegations, saying Mourinho had a "very calm post-game experience".

A statement from the club read: "At the end of the game, the Portuguese tactician gave interviews to the European media, signed autographs, watched the penalties of the Roma v Arsenal game before saluting (Sir Alex) Ferguson in his office.

"After giving the last interview to Inter Channel, he entered the team bus that was parked outside the dressing rooms and hence it was a very calm post-game experience."

A spokesman for Manchester United confirmed they were aware of the allegation but made no further comment.

The fan is alleged to have chanted, "You're going home, you're going home" to the former Chelsea manager.

The man later went into Stretford police station, close to Old Trafford, to report the alleged attack.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "Just before midnight on Wednesday 11 March 2009 a man reported he'd been punched in the face outside Old Trafford.

"Police are investigating this common assault allegation. Inquiries are ongoing."

The allegation came after Mourinho watched his team crash out of the Champions League after Nemanja Vidic and Cristiano Ronaldo scored for United at the start of each half.

Mourinho has come under attack from the Italian media for his failure to get Inter through to the last eight teams in the competition.

The plane taking the Inter party back to Milan left Manchester at 0025 GMT.

The fan, who is not from the Greater Manchester area, did not report any injuries to police after the alleged attack and did not need treatment.

                            1. only 11 players play on the field at one time
                            2. the game is fool of "microscopic" decisions by players that make differences in the game (i.e. making an accurate pass, gettting to the ball first, cutting off a passing lane, etc.). Just because a player scores a winning goals agaisnt the run of play, it doesn't mean that his goal was any more important that the tens or maybe hundreds of different decisions that the defenders made (for example) to prevent the other team from scoring.

Football is played for 90 minutes, and every decision by ever players is important. Special players make good decisions at good times and win games for their teams.

There is a reason that Nekounam will be taking the p.k's for osasuna now. It's because he has what it takes to convert them, not because he's a lucky person.

ye but if a team have 25 shots and 15 shots on target which 4 hit the post and others are deflected and the other team has 2 shots and 2 shots on target and wins 2-1, wouldnt that be unlucky?

of course there is luck involved... like poker, there is always a way for the worse player to win because of the luck/gambling factor.

if football was precise as you might think, there wouldn't be any fun watching it, because the team that is statistically better would win every time. But of course over a long period of time the teams with better statistical advantages win more games.

in the case of the CL, there is a bigger luck factor than in a normal league play. any series of mistakes, or lucky goals can decide the whole tournament. If Liverpool and Real Madrid replayed a hundred times in the exact form they had, Liverpool would most likely still win.
