Real Madrid will be without midfielder Guti for their game with Barcelona this weekend after he injured himself in training this morning.

The influential Spaniard suffered a knock on his left ankle in the last session of the day and had to be taken away to be analysed by the medical team.

Now, a few hours later, the official Real Madrid website has confirmed that he will not be able to play in El Clasico.

A statement released by the club did not put a date on when he will return but said that he is being evaluated.

"After the exploration and tests carried out in the Hospital Sanitas La Moraleja he has been seen to have a twisted ankle without any bone damage," read the report.

"Guti will be out of the game against Barcelona and according to his clinical evolution, the medical team will re-evaluate him to see how long he will miss."

The news will no doubt be a blow to Juande Ramos who is now likely to replace him with Rafael van der Vaart in midfield.
