Fabian Assmann Confirms Chelsea Interest

The Argentine shot-stopper has affirmed that the Blues are interested in purchasing him...

"Chelsea interest exists as from June, but right now I'm only thinking about Independiente," said Assmann, after the club's training session in Villa Dominico on Tuesday.

But the highly rated custodian stated that he didn't listen to rumours, but to what his agents have told him.

"I always listen to what my agents say. When they advised me that there were people from Chelsea observing the match against Tigre, last Saturday, I was very surprised," he said.

Assmann affirmed that he "attracted interest from other European clubs last year. But I never go crazy about these things. I have to keep my feet on the ground." European champions Manchester United were reportedly tracking the 23-year-old.

He continued, "Because of this, I am concentrating on Independiente and it hurts to look at the table. Because as well as having few points, we are one of the teams who have conceded the most goals. If I was annoyed when Tigre scored against me, imagine how I felt when they thrashed us."

According to the Argentine press, Chelsea could begin negotiations with Independiente for the goalkeeper in the next few weeks.
