carrick is better than most of united midfield better than park anderson and even giggs in central midfield

however man city are richer than united and will be finishing i believe on top of united this season

Again over simplifying things. Citeh had plenty of money when Thaksin 'Frank Sinatra' Shinawatra took over, but they had too many new players who just didnt fit in, and he fired Eriksson after 1 season when he actually did a good job. Then the Arabs came in, and their season was worse than last.

They wont finish anywhere near the Top 4, in fact they'll be lucky if they are consistent enough to challenge Everton for a UEFA Cup spot...and Everton dont even have 1/5th of United's budget !!!

Giggs isnt central midfielder, he's a winger and at the age of 35-36 one would be lucky to play as much games as a winger as Giggs. He was brilliant vs Inter Milan at San Siro in central midfield against the likes of Cambiasso, Stankovic etc...but it couldnt be repeated vs Barcelona. Likewise for Anderson in Porto, when he stifled the Porto midfield and United won 1-0, and Anderson was effective in both legs against Arsenal "Beautiful Football" FC. Sadly the final was a bad day for him but he will learn.

The final was Carrick's worst game in 3 years at United, but when the rest of the team seemingly deflated and nervous, I dont want to blame any single player but the WHOLE team itself.

Barry is the best calibre midfielder City can get right now. Apparently Mark Hughes will be targeting players with Premier League experience and ADUG will try their best to get 1-2 superstars. I can't find the article but stats-wise (goals, assists, passes) Barry just makes it into the top 5-6 of players in his position, in the prem league. I'm not a fan of Carrick but I haven't watched too many Villa and Man U games so I'll reserve judgement about which one I think is better. From what I've heard, most people seem to think it's Barry. I really hope Liverpool won't sell Xabi Alonso. But Liverpool's co-owners (one of which owns and wants to sell the Canadiens) will need to sell if Benitez plans to spend any more than 20 million on players this summer. I wouldn't be too surprised if City make it into the top 6 next season, they're a pretty good team as is. They have 238 milion to buy two decent defenders and a good goal scorer, they might not get Villa or Eto'o, but they will be able to target some of the best players in the league, outside the top 4.

                        I disagree completely!

The question is, where do you play Barry? they have Ireland playing in the hole behind the front 3, who's been FANTASTIC, and should keep its place. You have the young Michael Johnson, Brazillian Elano also fighting for that position. Not to forget De Jong, and Kompany will probably have a say in the Defensive Midfielders job.

Barry said, he wants Champions League Football, and he doesn't even get a Europa League football. He clearly went for money.

Manchester City wanted David Villa, but got Craig Bellamy. They wanted Kaka, but now got Gareth Barry.

I'm thinking Barry will partner De Jong and they will have Ireland in the hole.
Kompany will be in CB where he belongs.

Barry was a good signing for City. I feel that Barry may have made a mistake and that it was definitely based on money (6 mil signing on fee + 100 k a week would not be offered anywhere else). He demoted himself from the team he loves most and has the Europa spot to a CORPORATION.

Good thinking, Mark Hughes may do that...
We will see what City will do.

I think nimster22 answered your question. And we all know that Elano is on his way out. City's untouchables are Kompany, Ireland, Robinho, Given and I guess as of now, Barry.

And you agree that City probably won't get a Villa or Eto'o. Instead they'll probably end up with Santa Cruz and Carew, or Tevez (because of his situation) and Dzeko with some luck. What they can and will do is attract some of the best players outside the top 4. With maybe a Lescott to replace Dunne or Bridge, and a good striker or two, they should be able to challenge for a top 6 spot.

Bridge is an okay left back, i think on his day, he's as good as any left back in the League. He just needs to play consistently, and thats what is happening to him for City.
Dunne has been a long servant for City, but you would expect him to leave soon. A new centre back is needed definitely.

Joe Hart may be on his way out, to increase his chance of World Cup squad.
