It was obvious he was not going to stay with Newcastle.

It’s hard to measure what the general reaction from United fans has been to news that Michael Owen looks to be on his way. Whilst I would rather we didn’t, to put it mildly, I do trust …
A bit of a rebuttal
Now that I think of it, this could be a good bit of business by Sir Alex. Owen is a free agent, will probably get a 'pay as you play' contract style. I mean he's already experienced and can help Macheda and Wellbeck.
Plus it will piss off Liverpool

hum..!!
i like the guy....although he never lived up to his potential...!!
one of the very few english players i like, well a couple (gerrard also)..!!
this move has a potential to become the last nail on the coffin of his unfulfilled footballing career or complete resurgence of that..!!
as much as i dont like ManU i hope sir alex can revive his career if he cant, then i surely had him wrong as a talent to begin with...!!

I am actually confident that just like Henrik Larsson in 2007, Michael Owen has potential of becoming a real bargain buy.
He is a free agent, and is being given he will paid per game he is part of, it could be valuable for kids like Kiko Macheda and Danny Wellbeck on the side as they will surely be fighting for first team spots.
Liverpool fans now know how we felt when Paul Ince joined them a little over 10 years back.sigpic
