    Zoro suffers more racist abuse

Ivorian Zoro suffers another racist abuse in Italy

Messina's Ivorian defender Marc Zoro was reduced to tears on Sunday, after being subjected to racial abuse by the visiting fans of Inter Milan, in the Italian Serie A.

The 21-year-old was targetted when he went to collect the ball near the away supporters' section and after a chorus of monkey chants he decided he would take no more part in the game.

Inter's Brazilian striker Adriano went over to console Zoro before he broke down in tears.

Zoro's team-mates managed to then persuade him to play the remainder of the match and his decision was applauded by the Messina crowd.

Officials from the Italian football federation talked to Zoro about the incident after the match and the matter is likely to lead to an official enquiry.

Last month, Zoro said he constantly suffers racial insults.

"I have been playing in Italy for three years and I see this happening almost daily," the 21-year-old said.

"All this makes me really sad. It's not easy for me and it hurts. I don't deserve this."

On the first day of this season, Zoro was subjected to racial abuse by a large section of Lazio fans at the Olympic stadium.

His anger almost boiled over at the final whistle and he had to be restrained by his team-mates.

Afterwards, Lazio president Claudio Lotito went into the Messina dressing room to apologise on behalf of his club.

A 21 year old professional soccer player crying because some away fans were making fun of him? Boo hoo. Italian fans are passionate about their teams, and unfortunately they will do anything to reduce the morale of the opposing players. It is nothing new, and it won't change. If he doesn't like it, he should move from Italy.

racially abusing someone and ''making fun'' are totally different.

just what i was gonna say.
Persian, no one should have to deal with that.
In my sunday league matches last season i got racial abuse twice. Both times being calling a paki.
The first time was around this time last year and there was a brawl. Im not proud of it, but i broke the guys front teeth. we along with 4 other players got red cards and the match was ruined, other players continued to shout abuse like "what are you then? a fvckin arab? indian? all the same shlt" stuff like that. at the time i cud have done more. at that point my manager called off all the other palyers and we just walked off the pitch. I was fuming, everyone was. He called hte wrong person a paki! but the point is racial abuse is in my opinion worse than excesive violence. What i did was wrong but its justified cuz he was being racist.
the second time the whole team rushed in and stopped me, but i wasnt goign to do anythign because hte refaree heard him and he got banned by the F.A.
we wrote to the F.A. about the first incident and they didnt do anything, they just said they'd look into it, basically they contacted the referee who said he didnt hear anything so there was "no grounds for the complaint".
Seriously Perian i dont knwo if youve ever experienced it but its not nice. It brings the worse outa people. Id cry if a group of inter fans were shouting stuff at me too.

Its a shame that we have racists in todays world, mostly in countries who still think african people are like those villagers they see on tv and treat them as second class citizens (including the racists in Spain, Iran, Greece etc. who think african people are aliens etc.).

The problem can come down to the reason that there are not many african people in these countries, and are not as multicultural as countries like England for example.

I hope this problem is sorted out as soon as possible.

Racism has no place in our world.

How about you read my post logically instead of fuming like a 4 year old Did I ever say what was done was right? I said that this is nothing new, there have been what 5 or 6 threads opened addressing this issue? Yes, it happens, but when fans are cheering their team, as I said, they will do what needs to be done to demolish the morale of any opposing player. This is not U12 football, this is professional, and if the abuse is that bad, he can move, nobody is binding him to Italy.

man... why do I even bother giving an opinion when it always gets interpreted the wrong way

ok... and what do you recommend be done? 1 year jail term for whoever shouts racist remarks at football matches? Get real. We don't live in a utopian society, and there will always be the odd people out in society who due to their own insecurities seek to hurt others. I feel bad for the lad, but continuosly bringing up the subject won't fix anything due to the fact nothing can be done about it! Either a player can learn to live with them by turning his back or leave the country. That is how I see it mate.
