the first 3 matches of Iran weren't on IRIB. Normally I watch them on justin.tv or bet365.com.

TIANJIN (FIBA Asia Championship) - Defending champions Iran’s scoring rhythm is highly dependent on the plays set by Mahdi Kamrani.

The Mahram Tehran point guard had a scratchy start in his performance in the Championship with only two points in the opening game against Chinese Taipei, which reflected in the way the whole Iran team played.

But the 27-year-old got into customary rhythm in the second game against Uzbekistan with a game-high 23 points and continued in a similar manner than 24 hours later fashioning Iran’s third win in a row in the Championship.

FIBA Asia’s S Mageshwaran caught up with Kamrani after Iran’s win against Kuwait.

Your comments on the opening three games ?

It’s been up and down really.

Although we know each other very well, the problem was that we haven’t played together as a team for a long time. Hamed (EHadadi) is crucial in our plans and he was away in NBA.

So things are beginning to fall in place rather slowly, but surely and steadily.

We are getting better with each game as a team.

We really struggled with the conditions in the opening game. Now we are getting used to it.

The three opening games have helped us in all sense. And thankfully, we managed to win without playing to our best potential.

We can only improve from here.

Does being the playmaker in the team add pressure on you?

                Yes and No.

Yes because there is additional responsibility to perform.

Your actions not only affect your game but also affect the overall performance of your team.

In that sense, there is additional responsibility on your shoulders.

                But I enjoy it.

One of the main reasons for that is the fact that I am really privileged to play alongside great players like EHadadi and Samad Nikkah.

Playing with such talented and trustworthy teammates automatically reduces the pressure.

What according to you is the major difference between two years ago and now?

Two years ago, we were playing the Championship to earn respect for Iran basketball. We wanted to prove that we were capable of playing good basketball.

Now, we are here to defend a Championship gold medal.

The support of the fans back home has grown in these two years. So has their expectations increased.

But one thing that has remained the same is our determination to play good basketball. Last time around it took us to the gold medal. We hope we can repeat that.

What do you think of Hamed Afagh (who scored 20 points in the win against Kuwait)?

He’s a great shooter. I consider him as one of the best shooters in Asia.

Like I said earlier, being a part of a team with such players is charming and challenging at the same time.

Charming, because I’m proud and privileged to have them as teammates. Challenging, because I have to play well to remain a part of this team.

also note how when you go to their site, there is a stat thing for top players in rebounds, scoring, and assists.
you will release Nikkah Bahrami leads no 1 with scoring 20 PPG and no 1 in assists with 5.3 APG.

Haddadi on the other hand leads first place with rebounds 10.5 RPG.

all 3 in Stat Leader no 1 are Iranian.
