wow iran playing HORRIBLE. haddadi (missing easy ass 2 pointers he scores) and bahrami (losing ball) not in the game at all and kamrani with 3 fouls after 1st quarter, it's not safe for him to play.

                    Qatar 30-27 Iran HALF TIME.

Iran was losing 27-20 before Afagh saved Iran scoring 7 in a row. He's a sick shooter. Good thing Afagh made the game a 3 point game as Matic now has a chance to get Iran together.

54-46 Iran end of 3rd quarter. Iran improved alot and Afagh who came on as a sub has the game high 21 points. and Kamrani was really injured and had to go off. hope he's ok for next gam if we make it.

Iran wins 75-65 making the semis.

                        EDIT:
                        Qatar: S. ALI (23 pts), M. ELSAYAD (7 rbs), K. ABDI (4 ast)
                        Iran: H. AFAGH (26 pts), H. EHADADI (15 rbs), M. NIKKHAH (5 ast)

                        other stats:
Afagh only came on in 2nd quarter and played 30mins.
Bahrami (13 pts) he played 33mins.
                        Haddadi: 16 pts, 15rbs, 1 stl, and 5 blocks. (40mins)
Sahakian: good defensive work by him. 5 pts, 10 rbs, and 2 steals. (40mins)
Kamrani got injured kinda badly in 3rd quarter and had to go off and let's hope he's ok for tomorrow. He got 8 points. (22mins)

Sahakian and Afagh were our only solid players through out the game so to them.

ok what a horrible start by Iran getting only 27 points and Qatar had the chance to rape Iran after some silly turn overs in 1st half. Yes Iran changed the game around in 2nd half when Haddadi and Bahrami got their head together and played very well with a 26 point brace from Afagh
BUT if Iran plays like that vs. Jordan they will be heavily punished. Hope they improve tomorrow vs Jordan.

Iran semifinal is tomorrow vs Jordan who beat Philppines 81-70.
Iran will start at the same time as today's game. COME ON IRAN LETS GET TO THE FINAL and secure Iran's spot in Turkey 2010.

oh and I forgot, tmrw vs Jordan, it is going to be very tensy after that fight Haddadi had and the whole brawl before Jordan left the game in William Jones cup last month

                            about the win/injury on kamrani.

TIANJIN (FIBA Asia Championship) - A 15-6 advantage earned in the last five minutes of the third quarter helped defending champions Iran overcome their early hiccups and a doughty Qatar to post a 75-65 win in the second quarterfinal on Friday.

Iran will take on fellow West Asian nation Jordan in the semifinal on Saturday.

“In terms of preparation, I think we are the best team in this Championship. Only that we fail at crucial times,” said Qatar coach Ali Ahmad Fakhroo.

“We had problems of our own even before we started,” said Iran coach Veselin Matic.

“But in the end, we won. That’s what is important.”

Iran suffered a major blow at the end of the third quarter with their playmaker Mahdi Kamrani exiting with a painful back injury.

That did not deter Veselin Matic’s team from outscoring Qatar 13-2 in the early part of the fourth quarter and Iran in the flash of an eye were 67-48 ahead.

Iran’s third quarter fightback had thus been consolidated and the champions didn’t look back after that.

“He has gone to the hospital. We’ll know something concrete only after two hours,” Matic said about Kamrani’s injury.

Qatar did hold the more fancied Iran by the scruff of their necks for a better part of the first half.

“I think defensively we did alright. It was in the offence that we began to decline as the game progressed,” Fakhroo lamented.

Iran kept the scoring close but Qatar looked the better organized side.

All till Hamed Afagh scripted that third quarter blitz.

The 26-year-old Saba Mehr guard scored 12 of his game-high 26 points in the third quarter to steady Iran’s ship.

Afagh who was inducted only in the second quarter, returned a staggering 82% field record (9/11), including a 5/7 in three pointers.

Hamed EHadadi had 16 points – nine of them in the second half – and returned a double-double.

The Memphis Grizzlies centre collected a game-high 15 rebounds, and more importantly nine of them in defence.

Samad Nikkah who played braving an injured knee had 13 points, eight of them in the fourth quarter.

“Initially I thought I won’t play. Even when I started it was really painful. But I guess the adrenaline took over after a point,” Samad said.

Saad Ali was the highest scorer for Qatar with 23 points, but 13 of them came in the first half.

IRI's politics is no different than handling a pressure cooker ..... As the pressure builds up, you slowly let the steam out just a tad bit so that you don't see overflow, and once the pressure from below is less, you put the lid down again and raise the temperature.
