Iran's Mohsen Shadi Naghadeh has made history, winning his country's first rowing gold medal at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Racice, Czech Republic.
The talented Iranian rower came first in the Final B of Lightweight Men's Single Sculls after he crossed the line in six minutes 59.17 seconds on Sunday.
Brazilian rower Alison Silva collected the silver medal (6:59.17), while Germany's Linus Lichtschlag stood in the third place (7:01.40).
Some 56 nations took part in the 2009 World Rowing Under 23 Championships July 23-26.
The international rowing world is scheduled to gather again in ten days time for the World Rowing Junior Championships, which will be held in Brive-la-Gaillarde, France.
