damn what a season that was!! With their trio of german superstars Mathaus/klinsmann and bremeh. Back then Serie A (calcio) would give 2 points to a win and based on that point system it was a record the number of points they got.

I remember the first game of the season which was the first game for all 3 german players (Mathaus and breme came from Bayern and Klinsmann from Stuttgart). Klinsman scored a hat trick against Caligari (dont know how to spell it). Their captain was Bergomi if I am not mistaken. He was also the Captain of the Italian national team. I remember they used to say that team has the captains of both Italy and Germany and I also remember Bergomi was pissed cuz he said everytime the team or some of the guys went to a club Mathaus was the first to pick up the chics!

Their other international players were Walter zenga (goalie), Nicholas Berti (or as Iranians used to say gherti )who wore #10 for Italy but somehow came off the bench and their top goal scorer was Aldo Serena who wore #20 for Italy. I cant remember the rest of them. Its only 19 years since then!

EDIT: Now that I am thinking about it I am not sure if the trio of germens went there in 1988 or 1989. So this was either their first season or second season.
