Messi will be at Barca till he is at least 27 years old. He has been at Barca since he was a kid and pretty much owes all his success to the club and the way they have treated him through the years. You can't put a price tag on his story with Barcelona, not to mention the fact that he is the greatest player in the world and has such influence on the team.

In addition, Messi belongs in La Liga, he is not a player imo that will have nearly the same success in EPL.

the problem with the city's quest is that Messi in general is a pretty low key, humble and a very down to earth kid..!! with his rather modest lifestyle he can hardly spend half the money that he's earning now..!
besides, he feels obliged to continue serving the club who discovered and gave him his big chance at a very young age..!! by now practically his whole family has settled down in spain and then the issue of adapting to a new country and language etc. not to mention the competition at all level available to him at barca..!! so it would be quite unlikely for him to leave barca anytime soon.

the one thing i like about this offer though is that it sets a high pay scale for barca to adhere to when they try to renew his contract..!! you know, his agent is gonna be like...well he could be making 12million a year playing at City...since he likes you guys more he is willing to accept 11.5
