Its their top European players who make the team tick, when couple of them go missing they suddenly become pretty ordinary.
still for a country that considers football lower in interest than cricket, AFL, rugby etc, they have done an amazing job.
infrastructure wise they are best in asia, and they always bring top quality people in charge of their football from europe.
Apart from maybe 5 countries in the world show me countries that have 30 world class players.

Look at how good Ivory coast is but where would they be without Drogba, K.Toure, Y.Toure, Eboue and the Chelsea guy.

Italy, Spain, Brazil, Argentina are prob the only countries in the world that dont have the problem you just mentioned

There is a big difference between starters and non starters thats the point. some of them are getting pretty old as well, so if the new generation isn't good then Australia is in big trouble. But they'll be alright for next year in south africa.

With this kind of success I would love to see the volume of posts before their games in the salavat threads on Australian soccer boards.
I went to Sharif University. I'm a superior genetic mutation, an improvement on the existing mediocre stock.

salavat threads are tragic. they kind of embody everything that is wrong with Iranian society today.

I remember when one was made before the Portugal game in the WC, people were like "come on guys, TM has never lost when we opened a salavat thread before a game".

Was that game 2-1, or 1-0?

I think it was 1-0 but it could have been 5-0.

Let's see how they do against South Korea. Korea will play against Australia tomorrow.

I think the game would be 0-0.

the game is at south korea so if they both bring their A team, it will be a great game.

iran's football will go no where with this government.

u shouldnt even compare iran with australia.
iran should be compared to other oppressed countries.

australia ranked 14th, wow. they qualified through beating qatar, bahrain, and uzbekistan. they can't hang with the likes of netherlands, argentina, spain, or even turkey.
