The ban is currently in place until Jan 2011, which is about 16 months away.

I hate Chelsea very much for thinking they can buy success in such a vulgar fashion.....and although the ban does seem a little harsh and unfair when other teams do the same, I'm afraid to say I do find it very funny!

god only know how many other unfair scams Chelsea have gotten away with, since that scandalous russian owner Abramavich bought the club..!!?
they are probably the Main reason why nowadays the Players's Salaries have reached unrealistic figures, stopping many smaller football clubs in the world from even attempting to become bigger and better...!!

Update:

Transfer embargo hope for Chelsea

Chelsea could be allowed to sign new players in the January 2010 transfer window despite a Fifa ban.

Football's governing body handed out a ban until 2011 after they found the Blues guilty of inducing Gael Kakuta to break his contract with Lens in 2007.

But Chelsea could get a reprieve if they delay lodging any appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas).

Cas has indicated that if Chelsea take the full 21 days to appeal, their ban may be frozen while a decision is made.

"It depends on the filing date of the appeal," Cas secretary general Matthieu Reeb told BBC Sport.

"If we have an appeal within the next week, it seems realistic we will have a hearing in November and a decision in December.

"If it goes a little longer, we'd have to wait until next year but then we'd have a problem with the January transfer period.

"So there is a possibility of Chelsea requesting a stay of the Fifa decision so it is frozen until the final decision of Cas is rendered.

"This means the enforcement of the Fifa decision would not be immediate. It could be postponed and then if the sanction was finally confirmed by Cas, the suspension would be postponed to the next transfer window."

As it stands, Chelsea are barred from registering any new players, nationally, or internationally, during the January or summer 2010 transfer windows.

The Blues have already confirmed that they will launch the "strongest possible appeal" and they have 21 days to do so from when they receive Fifa's full decision.

The Cas decision can be appealed only before the Swiss Supreme Court.

Manchester United could also face an investigation after it emerged that another French club, Le Havre, are going to ask Fifa to look into Paul Pogba's move to Old Trafford last month.

Fifa say they are yet to receive any complaint over the transfer of the 16-year-old midfielder.

United told BBC Sport last month that Le Havre's accusations that they had stolen the French youngster were "complete nonsense".

A French football agent, who wishes to remain anonymous for professional reasons, told BBC Sport: "If Lens or Le Havre were legally able to sign the two players to contracts they would definitely have done it already.

"But French law prevents players from signing contracts if they under 16 and haven't achieved the requisite level at school.

"The clubs can make agreements with these players that say they will give them a contract when they have attained the right educational qualification or turned 16.

"It is a pre-contract. It is called an 'accord de non sollicitation' in French. It is a written agreement between club and player.

"That is what Kakuta and Pogba had. Fifa is clearly now saying these accords are as good as contracts, while Chelsea and Manchester United are saying they are not."

Fifa punished Switzerland's FC Sion for a similar offence to Chelsea's in April and the club was told it could not sign players until the 2010 off-season.

Sion have appealed to Cas, which has frozen the sanctions while it considers the case, allowing the club to trade before the current season began. A ruling is expected later this year.

Italian club Roma were banned from signing players for two transfer windows in 2004, over their move for Auxerre's Philippe Mexes, after they appealed to Cas and their suspension was reduced to one window.

The arbitration panel will be made up by one judge selected by Chelsea, one by Lens and the chairman will be from Cas.

French Football Federation president Jean-Pierre Escalettes, meanwhile, is pleased with the decision to punish Chelsea.

He said: "We had alerted Fifa and the Football Association against such misbehaviour. We are perfectly happy to see it being sanctioned."

a little update on Le Havre's jealousy over us signing a non-contracted player from their academy they didnt really care about.

David Gill handled this signing and showed that how classy he is in dealing with such things instead of plain and simple bribery and tapping up done by the Chelsea's pathetic cheat duo of Peter Kenyon and Frank Arnesen for years and years (Ashley Cole, Arnesen himself from Spurs, the two Leeds United kids, and now the player signing that got them the ban).

Paul Pogba's agent has again insisted that money was not the main motive behind his client's move to Manchester United.

The 17-year-old's move from Le Havre to Old Trafford has caused the French club to threaten The Red Devils with legal action.

United have refused to be moved by Le Havre's threats, insisting they want a retraction over recent comments, but the French minnows insist they are in the right.

Le Havre say they will take the case to Fifa, who recently banned Chelsea from signing players until 2011, subject to appeal, after they were deemed to have illegally signed Gael Kakuta from Lens.

But Pogba's agent insists United have done nothing wrong and they simply showed belief in the player.

"Of course, it is a nice contract. But not only money makes a young player and his parents change their country," Gael Mahe stated.

"They also look at the way people talk to them, the seriousness of negotiation, the respect shown.

"Did you know what Manchester sent to Paul's mother? Not a big cheque, but a bunch of flowers. It cost €30 but the mother has been moved. She felt trust.

"The father received a book about the club's history, while Paul got a shirt with number 6 and his name in the back. It is a symbol, but they felt Manchester respected them."

Pogba's mother Yeo also dismissed claims that they have received a new house from United as part of their move to England.

"That house story made people laugh in the hotel. Why would we be in a hotel, if we had been given a house? I can assure you Manchester United didn't give us anything," she told France Football.

"Le Havre didn't take care of my son. When Paul missed classes because he played a tournament with the team, we asked to catch it up, but Le Havre didn't care.

"We understood the club didn't have faith in him. They proposed contracts to other players, but nothing to Paul. Trust was broken."

FIFA Approve United’s Pogba Deal

After Chelsea had been slapped with a ban from the transfer window, news broke that Manchester United could be in for the same punishment after French club Le Havre claimed we had unlawfully gained the signature of youngster Paul Pogba. United claimed time and again that we had done nothing wrong and there was no problem with the deal, much to Le Havre president Jean-Pierre Louvel’s frustration. Even Pogba’s parents laughed off Lovel’s claims that we had bought them off with a house and money.

Today, FIFA have confirmed that Le Havre don’t have a case against us.

“Manchester United is pleased to confirm that the Football Association has been authorised by FIFA to register Paul Pogba as a United player with immediate effect.”
