i remember when Azizi played for the San Jose Earthquakes in in the MLS, every single game was packed with tons of Iranian fans. He wasnt even one of the best players in the league but he was voted as a starter in the all star game.

The clipper should do the same thing with Haddadi. The stadium would be packed with Iranians. For a team that is always in the shadow of the lakers, he would be perfect

Haddadi was never going to have a paticularly long nba career. He lacks the level of athelticsim that a good shot blocker generally has and he also lacks the shooting range of other big men that carved out nice careers for themselves (doleac, ilgauskas).

i have to disagree...ive followed him for a very long time and have seen him many times. im not following him just cuz he's iranian, i see the talent in him and i know he can be great if they give him the chances. his shooting is actually good and he has improved his athleticism alot since last year.

i have never seen him play for the iranian national team but all of the games that i have seen him play for the grizzlies have made it abundantly clear that he is out of his element. He's only hope is that he gains aloooooot of muscle and becomes a shot blocker (ala dalembert).

well i have to disagree again cuz when he comes on for grizzlies, its usually for like 2 min so he doesnt have enough time to get in the rhythm of the game. But even then he always puts up stats, he's a great shot blocker and a natural rebounder...even the commentators always say good things about him. They say he runs the floor very efficiently and i watched all the summer league and preseason, they all said he's better than thabeet. The reason they dont play him is purely political. The grizzlies management has gambled on this #2 pick so they have to give this thabeet guy all the playing time. The couple of games haddadi played 10min or more he put up excellent stats. First preseason game he had a double double in 15 min. There is no way he's lost in the game, sure everyone makes a small mistake here and there but overall he's good, he sets good screens, he's a presence under the basket such that other teams dont drive the ball in and are forced to make outside shots. i mean i can go on and on why he deserves it, im a harsh critic so trust me if he wasnt good i wouldnt be so supportive. u can see what a harsh critic i am if u follow my posts in the football forum.

check out this analysis from the grizzlies forum

Hamed's per 48 stats are roughly 19 ppg, 20 rpg, 5 bpg, and 3 apg on 49% shooting and only 3.6 tpg and an efficiency rating of 31 (highest among all rookie Centers).

I always find that per 48 stats are misleading because there are many players that do well for short bursts of time but can't do it over the long haul. I remember my friends telling me how joel anthony was gonna be big this year, citing his 48 stats. Hasn't exactly panned out. Hey if i turn out to be wrong than i'd be extremely happy. Seeing an iranian do well is always a good thing, i just wish iranian basketball fans would temper their expectations.
