wat worries me more than anything is asian coefficient for future worldcup.
with iranian football on a decline, fifa reducing the number of slots wont help.
first of all, again asian is having only 4 representatives. its 5th representative so far has been eliminated by both north american representative and oceania representative!
and with north korea being one of asia's 4th representatives, we should really hope either japan, korea or australia pull a miracle out of their behind like 2002 otherwise there is a high possiblity our .5 slot can go to some other continent

btw, wats interesting is that, both last time and this time, bahrain drew 0-0 in the first leg, and second leg, they lost 1-0 on a header form a corner kick!! they waited 4 years to repeat the same mistake and allow history to repeat itself

nope last time in first leg they drew 1-1 in trinidad and tobago and then lost 1-0 in 2nd leg in Bahrain

Despite the Kiwis smashed the Bahrainis ( that is absolut great and made my day), the pain about the 1:1 against South Korea gets more stronger day by day, due to the celebration of other nations who qualified for the WC 2010. From one point of view I am happy about the result, but seeing them celebrating makes me very sad when i remember the pain i had after the draw against SK.

the loss to ksa in azadi was the worst!
then the draw with korea and the draw with UAE both..

we kept messing up the entire campaign and stupid north korea could have scored in the 90th minute against saudi arabia in a counter attack by a simple tap in but instead he kicked it right at the GK and that game ended 0-0 and we were out...

we could have been awarded 2 penalties though any one of which would have put us through, one against UAE in UAE (gholam reza rezaei), and one against korea in tehran (hossein kazemi) but that didnt happen either...

I honestly think Bahrain is the only team in the world capable of squandering TWO GOLDEN CHANCES to qualify for the World Cup BACK TO BACK!
In 2006 it was Trinidad-Tobago and they played the decisive return leg at HOME, in Bahrain.
And now New Zealand, a team that was defeated by the MIGHTY FIJI in the qualifiers!!!
How pathetic for Bahrain.
But, I'm very satisfied!
I want all the BAD LUCK and HEART BREAKS for this team after what they did to us in 2001.
And, don't get me wrong, I'm not mad that they defeated us in Manama 3-1, I have even gotten over the grass-rolling part, but one thing I will nor forget, nor forgive is the PATHETIC WAY in which they celebrated afterwards, on the pitch, with the Saudi flag.
God, Allah, or whoever you want to call him is up there and he saw what these miserable cheats did that day in Manama.

you can't compare the New Zealand that got defeated by fiji and the present.
i feel that losing to fiji was possibly the best thing that happened to them. if they did beat fiji back in 05, they possibly would of keep Mick Wait (coach in 05), by them losing to fiji, it was pretty much a wake-up call and started the 4-5 year plan to get to the world cup.
also i like to add another point that the squad back in 05 that they lost to fiji, not all players were pro, however with the new a-league introduced i believe all the squad is now pro apart from a couple that is in the local league that is semi-pro.
