    Who cares?

Im happy France qualified to the WC over Ireland. France > Ireland.

They'll provide much more entertainment in the WC than Ireland ever would of.

      From Yahoo Sports

SAINT-DENIS, France (AP)—France striker Thierry Henry admits he intentionally handled the ball to set up William Gallas’ equalizing goal, sending France to the World Cup at Ireland’s expense after an intense 1-1 draw on Wednesday.

With Ireland leading 1-0 and the match level on aggregate deep into the first period of extra time, France won a free kick and Henry twice handled the ball—stopping it going out of play, then controlling it—before setting up Gallas for a header.

After the match, the Barcelona striker said, “I will be honest, it was a handball. But I’m not the ref.”

After winning 1-0 in Dublin on Saturday, France won 2-1 on aggregate, and will play in its fourth straight World Cup.

Ireland failed to qualify, as in 2006.

"It was a handball, but I'm not the ref. I told [the referee] but he said to me the same: 'You are not the ref.'"
            Now stop the whining.

How was it unintentional? Look at the replay, the ball was going out of play, but his hand clearly went to stop it and even pass it onto his foot. If it was a "reaction" it was the reaction of someone who looks for cheating opportunities. And by the way the the refs could do nothing, it was in their blind spot. I bet if you were Irish and a Barca fan then you would be pissed out of your mind instead of acting bias.
don't put words in my mouth, that's not what i'm saying at all!!!! I was saying that in Henry's case the ball popped up in front of him abruptly causing a sudden movement/reaction as to where Maradona knew the ball was out of his reach and made a conscious desicion with his handball. you guys need to stop watching the slow-motion version and watch it at game speed because its very different. I'm bashing Maradona, not praising him, since when do people categorize me as some kind of Maradona worshiper. when did i praise Maradona or say viva Argentina?

as for the me calling it unintentional, i already corrected myself, i only used that word because i was too lazy to re-explain the way i saw it. listen, I wish the ref's would have seen it and I don't think France (especially Henry) played a good game at all, not one that merrited them going to the World Cup. bottom line is none of us can be critical of Henry because anyone of us would have done the same thing for Iran to be in the World Cup. This has nothing to do with me being a Barca fan, and trust me I feel for the Irish, if I was Irish I would be outside setting a car on fire. If the same thing would have happened to Villa or Rooney or any admarible player then I would be saying the same thing, because these kinds of players have strong characters and don't deliberately cheat.

also the linesmen should have had a clear enough view of this, it was off a set piece so the linesmen should have been pre-positioned to spot something like that, also considering it was so apparent to 5-6 players flairing their arms about after the act tells you that the linesmen was at fault.

i think its very unfair to call me biased PersianMadrid, I'm openly a huge Barca fan but I think i call the game the way I see it and don't allow bias to affect me viewpoints, I think even Milad would agree with this.

Henry has always been a great guy, not one that cheats. He's made a career of playing beautifully and acting as a role model. this action against Ireland certainly isn't admirable or something worth applauding, however to call him a cheat and disgrace is completely ridiculous.

First of all, I believe it was intentional. In the heat of the moment, in a high pressure match Henry did something dishonest. That doesn't make him satan incarnate though.

...and of course FIFA should stop being so stubborn and implement video replays for the officials.

I would like to point out though that football is all about ups and downs. Don't forget that in the 2002 WCQ playoffs against Iran in Tehran, Iran completely dominated Ireland for 90 mins straight and if I remember Karimi hit the frame of the goal 3 times but we were still eliminated.

That's not a direct comparison, and of course what Henry did was wrong....but sometimes in football you are lucky and sometimes you are not. It's part of what makes the game so great.

He admit that he took the ball with his hand today. He admitted after the game, not during the game bastard.

until france get rid of domenech they are not doing anything this world cup...the funny thing is they have many studs like Benzema, Henry, Diarra, Ribery and others yet they were the 2nd last team to qualify (and barely)...add one of those stud players to a team like Greece, Turkey or Croatia and they become much much better

so much talent...so little production... I hope France gets the group of death again

+1 Let's not forget how incredibly lucky Ireland where in Dublin as well, with Karimi and Bagheri missing unbelievable opportunities in a 2-0 loss (although we all know that this situation is different, the point is that luck and human error are simply a part of the game, just like China got away with murder against Iran in the 2004 Asian Cup Semi final and won the game due to terrible ref. decisions).
