    Poll for NBA fans

I had always been a draft hog. To me the most important NBA day was the NBA draft especially since I followed college bball too and I also liked to predict who the rookie of the year was ( a shocker and accurate of a pick when I picked Damon stoudamire in 1995), so its natural that I get into this talk with people who also like the NBA so now lets ask that here. While no draft even comes close to the 1996 draft in terms of overall quality. 1-5 There are only 2 drafts that can be considered to be the best

    1984 :
    1 Hakeem Olajuwon (C)
    2 Sam Bowie (C)
    3 Michael Jordan (SG)
    4 Sam Perkins (PF/C)
    5 Charles Barkley (PF)

    2003:
    1 James, LeBron
    2 Miličić, Darko
    3 Anthony, Carmelo
    4 Bosh, Chris
    5 Wade, Dwyane
    33
    1984 - The MJ draft
    0%
    22
    2003 - The LeBron draft

I myself vote for MJ draft cuz that draft had 3 MVPs in the top 5. I dont see anyone except for Lebron winning MVP from the 2003 group and not becasue they come in second to Lebron

when i saw the options i was like where the hell is the 96 draft lol...i see where ur coming from

i pick 84 cuz there are 3 hall of famers...d wade is a little inconsistent, bosh might just be going through a hot streak, and I hate carmelos game

BUT i still think the top 5 in 96 is better than both of these 84 had 3 great players, 03 had 4 great players, but 96 is the only draft where all 5 were great (i think camby is a little overrated but he still won defensive player of the year)

in the 96 draft, pick #13 was better than picks #1-5 combined!

but what would have put draft 96 in the discussion was

              1) if Kobe had been picked in the top 5. Back then there was this belief that only big men have the ability to skip college and still be effective in the pros. Kobe put an end to that argument right away!

Imagine Kobe, AI, ray allen and timmy in one draft!! That woulda destroyed both 84 and 03
              2) Tim Duncan would have been the #1 pick of that draft but he decided to return to college for his senior season wich made AI the #1 pick

the 1984 draft definitely has the greater "superstars" with their HOF's (Stockton, Jordan, Hakeem and Barkley) are genuinely considered either the best all time in their positions or top 10, not to say Wade or LBJ wont become HOF, I actually think 2003 has a greater diversity in talent (besides the top 5 picks minus Darko, there are some other quality guys like Kaman, Williams, Diaw, Howard, West, Perkins..)

I vote 1984, but while we are talking about drafts you guys remember 2000?

                1)Kenyon Martin
                2)Stromile Swift
                3)Darius Miles
                4)Marcus Fizer
                5)Mike Miller

                talk about crap lol

lol! there have been many crap drafts among the very crappy ones is the kandi man and kwame brown draft and among the good ones the 99 draft:

                  1) elton brand
                  2) stevie franchise
                  3) The baron of westwood davis
                  4) candyholic odom

1084 all the way, btw what a huge mistake the Houston Rockets have made drafting Olajuwon instead of Micheal Jordan.

                      lets grade em outta 10

                      84:

                      hakeem-10
                      bowie-2
                      jordan-11
                      perkins-4
                      barkley-9

                      average: 7.2

                      96:
                      iverson-10
                      camby-7
                      shareef-7
                      marbury-7
                      ray allen-8

                      average- 7.8

                      03-

                      lebron-10 (generous)

                      melo-7.5
                      wade-8
                      bosh-7

                      average-7.1

                      winner: 96

thats as of now...when the 03 class start retiring and if bosh sustained what hes been doing this season and carmelo learned to start passing out of quadrouple teams they'll have a strong case

and nobody give me shit about my grades

I would give Marbury and Camby a 6 rating at best, neither of the two were great players and were above average in the league at best. Marbury was a big time disappointment based upon his potential and Camby has always been a one dimensional player who was continuously hurt at one point or another.

and even though Sam Bowie was chosen ahead of the greatest, he is still 1000 times better than Darko, Bowie was at least a servicable player in the league

I agree completely, in fact Perkins is at least a 5 to a 5.5 (he was a league avg player at the very least) and if Bowie is a 2 then Darko is a 0.

Right now, the 84 draft. When all is said and done, the 03 draft will surpass the 84 draft.
