From branko to Ghotbi......i hate coaches that get stuck on using the same players over and over.....how can u be a good coach if u dont take risks....


i have no hope for italy this world cup...just look at the squad Lippi picked...with so many other younger better players available, he is being stubborn in choosing the same old players, some who havent even been playing recently....and a few who are currenlty INJURED

The three goalkeepers are Gianluigi Buffon, Federico Marchetti and Morgan De Sanctis.

Vincenzo Iaquinta and Alberto Gilardino pick themselves in the forward line, with Luca Toni being an alternative to the Fiorentina man over Giampaolo Pazzini and Marco Borriello. Francesco Totti is also expected to play, but this has not been confirmed.

Giuseppe Rossi, Fabio Quagliarella, Antonio Di Natale and Simone Pepe will all fight each other for the final shirt.

Italy's chances of reachnig the final or winning the cup aren't high with the likes of Brasil, England, Spain or even Netherlands in good form. But I am sure Lippi will take a good mixture of veterans and young players to South Africa. People just keep asking for certain players without knowing enough about the coach's philosophy, plans, or the player's problems. If you follow the italian league closely, you will see why, for instance, players like Mario Balotelli aren't called up (e.g math today vs. fiorentina). Santon has potential, but he hasn't been getting consistent playing time at Inter, so when he will (hopefully he will), I am sure Lippi will call him up first thing.

A lot will happen in 4 months for players fitness/injuries. I'm sure he'll add a few young players, but keeping players who gel as a team is better than adding inexperienced players especially since they aren't going to get a chance to gel before the WC starts.

back on topic, Italy is pretty predicatble and I think their 23 man squad wont have many surprises
