I say don't rule Milan out just yet.

Pato will be in-form by then, and it could change things up.
However, as long as Milan fullbacks are shit, they won't stand a chance.

an early goal, by either side could really decide it.

last year, after Liverpool lost 1-3 to Chelsea @ Anfield, 95% of people said, there is no reason for the second leg to be played, but we almost progressed, so if Milan have the right mentality and fighting spirit, they could get there, and also Man U must make sure they won't get over-coky because they would regret it.

I say 85% of United progress
    15% of Milan progress

because of that some teams come for ties or 1-0 wins
              Not really.

Away goals are a brilliant idea. Because some teams defend and sit deep whent hey are playing away. This away goal idea, makes it interesting so that they attack and get a goal.

If Milan score first, then it would be a real interesting match.. however if United score first, then i can only see one winner.

well the argument can be made both ways as i said. when someone plays away can score one goal and sit back and defend or in man u's case now they got 3 away goals so they can just defend at home. so its the same, it forces teams to defend. If we keep it regular then teams would just go for the win. playing at home is no guarantee for a win so i dont agree with what u say about away teams playing defense. Every team will go for the win in each game.

Some teams would even be satisfied with a draw away, and try to win the home tie. Manchester United got 3 goals at Milan, but their system was simply to compact the midfield, make it tight ,and see what they can get on the breaks. Playing 4-5-1 with Rooney alone tells you the whole story. Usually United play the classic 4-4-2.

Nothing wrong with this away goal rule.
