Structure and history of the National Football League (NFL)

The National Football League is a professional football league comprised of 32 teams. The League is divided into two different conferences: National Football Conference (NFC), and the American Football Conference (AFC).

The AFC is divided into four divisions, and sixteen teams. The AFC East consists of the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins. AFC North consists of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals and the Baltimore Ravens. AFC South consists of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Indianapolis Colts, Houston Texans and the Tennessee Titans, and finally the AFC West consists the San Diego Chargers, Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs.

The NFC also consists of four divisions and sixteen teams. NFC East consists of the Washington Redskins, New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles. NFC South consists of the New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Carolina Panthers and the Atlanta Falcons. NFC North consists of the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears, and finally the NFC West consists of the St. Louis Rams, Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers and the Arizona Cardinals.

The regular season begins the second Sunday after Labor Day weekend, and sees each team play 16 regular season games. The season concludes on the first Sunday in January, and sees each divisional winner getting into the playoffs, along with two wildcard teams from each division.

A playoff format is then set up consisting of winners from each conference. Those winners play in the Super Bowl, which is held in a different city each year on the first Sunday in February. The 2008-2009 season Super Bowl winner was the Pittsburgh Steelers, who beat the Arizona Cardinals in a very exciting game.

The 2009-2010 season kicks off with a number of teams looking for a championship. A number of the favorites for the 2009-2010 Super Bowl are Pittsburgh, New England, Minnesota, New Orleans, San Diego and Baltimore.

The first ever Super Bowl was won by the Green Bay Packers (who would also win it in the second year, and again in 1996). The team with the most ever Super Bowl victories is the Pittsburgh Steelers. The NFL commissioner is Roger Goodell (who took over from long standing commissioner Paul Tagliabue). The NFL has also gone overseas, with regular season games being staged in various countries such as England, Canada and Mexico, which truly makes the National Football League a world-wide league.

I went to Sharif University. I'm a superior genetic mutation, an improvement on the existing mediocre stock.
