Messi and Rooney are both in the form of their life right now. I think the Player of the year award will go to the person who helps their team win more titles (especially the CL) the winner for the past 4 years has been from the CL champions.

i can tell ibra is so upset that he's not scoring like messi, he came to barca hoping to win the pichichi, he's not even close, he's like 13 goals

the thing That I like About Messi That He stays on his foot , He gets Fouled but he still continues doesn't Go on the ground easy , Unlike other players like Cristiano Which he is a Great player and Absolutely incredible feet but he is nothing compared to messi right now !

I am Manchester United fan, and i love Rooney to bits. I've been to matches for England and the only player they chant for is Rooney.. however, Messi is better.

If someone does not say Messi is the best player in this planet, then they don't know football.

pedro is right, messi had surpassed maradona. messi is at his prime, and he is better than maradona was at his prime. in my opinion, lionel messi is the best footballer of all time.

Messi needs to achieve something in international level to be considered near maradona.

Messi has potentially 3 World Cups to attend and try to achieve something with Argentina. Ironically, it is Maradona's ineptness as a coach that is preventing the national team from progressing.

he was talking in terms of skill, not in terms of archievements..no player has ever had as much skill as messi has. if messi was put up against the defenders of maradona's time he would rape them

Messi is a brilliant dribbler, but these sorts of players only last acouple of season's in the modern game...Ronaldinho was a perfect example, they get figured out and they become just another player.

He is a good player, not taking anything away from him. But players that are hyped up like this...how long do they remain hyped up before they are washed up.

Funny game that was...Ibra pissed my off with constant misses of easy chances, he is so bad in front of goal (that game). then every time Ibra fails an easy chance Messi scores right after from NOTHING creating a goal by himself dominating performance from the best player ever in the history, not to mention and most beautiful to watch.
funny how Ibra applauded him everytime and finally Messi shows great team gesture and unselfishness by giving the penalty that he got to Ibra so he regains some confidence and starts scoring.

                              SUPERIOR BEING
Messi has won more titles than the greatest legends in his six first years playing in the elite.
His goal-scoring strike drives him straight to the top of the European goal scorers.
Messi at his age has already achieved 13 titles.
Pele, in his first seasons, achieved 6.
Cruyff, when he was 23, 6.
Maradona, when he was 21, just had 2 titles.
