    Kia Motors gives fans chance to vote for NBA MVP Award

    The National Basketball Association and Kia Motors America announced that, for the first time ever, fans will have the opportunity to help determine the winner of the NBA Most Valuable Player award presented by Kia Motors.
    Through a dedicated Web page on NBA.com, fans can submit their votes for MVP, ranking their top five choices. The combined fan vote will count as one vote, with the remaining 124 votes coming from a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada. Fans can cast their MVP votes from April 1 through 15 on NBA.com/kiamvpfanvote The 2009-10 NBA Most Valuable Player of the Year Award presented by Kia Motors will be announced following the conclusion of the 2009-10 NBA regular season.
    As the Official Automotive Partner of the NBA, Kia Motors is giving fans the chance to enter the Kia Motors MVP Sweepstakes by logging on to NBA.com/awards. The grand prize for the sweepstakes is an all-new 2011 Kia Sorento CUV, the Official Vehicle of the NBA, and a trip to The Finals, where the lucky winner and a guest will watch the game with two of the greatest NBA Most Valuable Player award recipients of all time, Julius Erving (winner 1980-81) and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (winner 1970-71, 1971-72, 1973-74, 1975-76, 1976-77, 1979-80).
    "The NBA Most Valuable Player award presented by Kia Motors is our league's most talked about and coveted individual accolade, and Kia Motors is providing an incredible opportunity for our fans to have a voice in determining the winner of the award for the first time," said Executive Vice President of NBA Global Marketing Partnerships Mark Tatum. "Kia Motors is adding to the honor of winning by continuing its effort to donate new vehicles to charity on behalf of all four 2010 NBA Performance Awards recipients and ensuring that each award will have a lasting impact in its respective community."
    Kia Motors will unveil a new national television advertisement to promote the Most Valuable Player platform. The MVP fan vote and sweepstakes will also be promoted prominently in NBA team arenas; online through NBA.com, Facebook, and Twitter; and during NBA local and national game broadcasts. "Kia Motors not only recognizes the importance of offering passionate NBA fans the opportunity to have a voice and vote for this prestigious player award, but also of rewarding a devoted basketball enthusiast a once in a lifetime experience to go to the finals with NBA legends and win the stylish all-new Kia Sorento," said Michael Sprague, vice president of marketing, KMA. "Kia Motors is delighted to continue its commitment to awarding new vehicles to deserving Performance Award recipients' respective charity organizations as well as offering fans of the game exciting and dynamic vehicles."
    Kia Motors America will donate a brand-new Kia Sorento to the charity of the player's choice on behalf of the four 2009-10 season-end award winners as part of the "The NBA Performance Awards Presented by Kia Motors." At the end of this season, Kia Motors will have donated a total of 12 vehicles to charity since the creation of this program in 2008.
    The 2009-10 NBA Most Valuable Player of the Year Award presented by Kia Motors is part of a series of oncourt performance awards called "The NBA Performance Awards Presented by Kia Motors." The series, currently in its third season, is a significant part of the multiyear marketing partnership between Kia Motors America and the NBA, and also includes the Most Improved Player, Sixth Man Award, and Defensive Player of the Year, which are awarded following the regular season, and the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Month presented by Kia Motors, which are awarded during the regular season.
