I don't care what Lebron or Kobe do next season, obviously, he has been pacing himself due to his mileage so until April when the playoffs start, any kind of Lebron is better than Kobe talk is just foolish at best!
Kobe's points in the 2001 playoffs
Game 1: 28 points
Game 2: 25 points (7 assists)
Game 3: 22 points (9 assists)
Game 4: 29 points
Game 5: 27 points (9 rbs, 7 asts)
Game 6: 36 points
Game 7: 48 points (16 rbs)
Yes there is no typo. that is the 2001 and not 2010 playoffs and we are talking a 22 year old and not 31 year old Bryant. This is one of those years Shaq won the finals MVP and people say this was shaq's championship and Kobe was second fiddle Th haters will never stop.
Kobe the best laker of alltime and second best overall behind MJ

Kobe is still the 2nd best Laker of all time after Magic. Once he wins a 6th, I'll be ready to dub him the greatest Laker ever. For now, those 3 easy titles he got as 2nd fiddle to Shaq slightly taint their value. Magic took all 5 as the lead man. Even Kobe admitted after the game that he told Magic, "now I can finally take you out to a dinner" (aka, now I'm finally worthy of even carrying your jock strap).
Also, Michael Wilbon made a great point about all these people claiming Kobe to be the 2nd greatest ever after MJ. The reason so many people say this is because all they saw was Kobe and MJ, they didn't see the players before them. Therefore they assume the greatest HAS to be someone they saw, which is so sad but totally true and ludicrous at the same time.
True historians of the game who have closely observed for decades would put Kobe somewhere in the top 5-10. Just because the biggest d!ck in the world currently belongs to some black guy with a 14 incher, doesn't mean there weren't other guys in the past who had a 16 inch c0ck.

Thats Kobe being graceful and I know you love Magic and your photo session with him.
and:
1) You are a "bruin"! You know who the lead man was for couple of those championships! The 6 time MVP himself Karim abduljabbar.
2) Kobe was NOT second fiddle to shaq in 2001 and 2002 playoffs. He carried his ass through the BIG western conf. (did you see the stats in the previous post!? )where shaq had a lot of competition. Then shaq went crazy in the finals against smaller eastern conf. teams hence winning "finals" (not playoffs) MVP
3) This is so funny. All these years I ahve not heard anything about Kobe needed to beat the celts to cement his legacy. This is just another new condition haters bring in to diminish what he has done. So now that he has done it. How about this: He has tied with Magic but Magic could never beat the celts in a game 7 (no laker star could). How about dam appales!? beaten with your own logic haters!

And lets be honest here. Jordan would not have gone 6-24 in the biggest game of his career. I don't care how bad he wanted to win, thus being sucked "into the moment". He showed total and complete lack of faith in his team when the going got tough, and absolutely crumbled under the pressure (you could even see it in his poor FT shooting). Fortunately, he was smart enough to give a ton of credit to Pau who really bailed his ass last night (not to mention Artest).
also I saw what wilbon said which was full of crap. Look at Elfin Baylor's stats. Every single one of them has been broken by Kobe and he is not even done yet! Wilbon lotf kard put Kobe above James worthy and Byron scott! I loved how stuart scott made fun of him and said where is Rambis on that list
In terms of both on and off the court yes Magic was the greatest laker but in a "game" nigga please and I have watched Magic play. Afterall I became a laker fan becasue of Magic Johnson

Yes he did! shows how people like wilbon either forget or choose to forget these stats. Thats the thing people chose to forget about MJ's bad games but when its Kobe all hell breaks loose. Lets put aside that none of those teams MJ played in the finals were as strong as these celtics who had won a championship before. This was game SEVEN of NBA finals. I had never seen Kobe play like this becasue he was never in a game 7 of n NBA finals before and he was getting triple teamed, something Jordan never got.
Here is the evidence to the contrary:
Game 6 1996 NBA finals The bulls win the NBA championship in 6 games 4-2 vs. the sonics. Jordan's FG%? 5-19
Babak az to baeedeh! Let it go. I am not even saying Kobe is better than Jordan. All I am saying is he is the best laker ever

its really tough to say kobe is better than magic, but he is pretty much very very close to overcoming him. i think it would be fitting for the lakers to in another one next year to remove all doubt =). go lake show!

Magic transcended the game of basketball. What he did for the sport, the city of Los Angeles, and the Laker organization is on a different level than what Kobe has accomplished.
I understand that the 1980 season was 30 years ago and you certainly didn't know the difference between Magic Johnson or Magic Mountain at the time, but I'm sure you know that Magic was the first and only rookie to ever win Finals MVP.
I'm sure you also know that when Abdul-Jabbar went down with an injury, Magic Johnson the 6'9 point guard switched to center for Game 6 and dropped 42 points, 15 rebounds, and 7 assists in leading his team to the championship against Dr. J and the 76ers.
We can go on and on. But the point I'm trying to make is that there has never been another Magic Johnson, and it's unlikely that there ever will be another one. Kobe is the closest thing we've had to Jordan. But what does it tell you that the closest thing we've had to Magic Johnson was Shaun Livingston? Magic had the most unique skill set ever created in a professional basketball player, while also being the greatest leader of a team and city in NBA history.
As amazing as last night's game was, there is one moment that keeps coming back to me over and over again and will never get out of my head: Early in the 4th quarter, the Lakers were down about 6 or so and Kobe was putting up brick after brick. Finally, his teammates cut it to 2 while Kobe was completely immersed in himself and rattled. After a blocking foul was called on him on a fast break, he refused to get off the ground and Farmar ran up to him to help him up. Kobe wouldn't take his hand or get up. Farmar said "come on, we're only down 2" trying to encourage him, but Kobe was having none of it and didn't get off the ground for a good 10 seconds. It was a revealing moment where his lack of leadership showed, and how fragile his psyche is to the point that a 3rd year backup could sense it and was trying to encourage him to change his negative "me-first" attitude for the good of the team. Farmar was basically saying in not so many words, "this isn't about you bro, change your attitude and help us win this sh!t, we're right there with these guys down 2 so stop acting like we've already lost."
Magic Johnson 5 championships in 9 finals
Kobe Bryant 5 championships in 7 finals (more efficient)
Honestly I don't think there was ever a plan for a team to step up and collectively stop Magic. Been watching the NBA since 1992 religously, never heard anyone talk about jordan's legacy, even when he had only one championship.
I expect this from the haters cuz they are running out of excuses but from you I can't believe it.
anyways, javoon , I am in heaven and natural high right now . I am just trying to educate you kids (and wilbon) who don't know the numbers (or choose to forget them whenever its convenient )
Congrats to the 31 year old Kobe Bryant who is 4th alltime in playoff points and already has 5 rings. While getting the last 2 with only a "possible" HOFamer. He didnt have the best defensive and all around small forward of alltime alongside him
