Not mad or anything, it just pisses me of when some talk out of their ass.

Did non of you idiots watch England v Brazil in Doha 5 months ago?
I've seen the facilities they have with my own eyes, its as good as anyone out there.

Let me tell you this, Al Sadd club's stadium & training are as good as any premier league teams facilities. You'll all see it in january anyway. Hopefully I'll be reporting from there all the TM updates.

Look, in Qatar they spend their money on their country & people, unfortunately in iran they don't (we all know where its gone).

12 years to go, C'mone Doha

Do you think South Africa would have qualified if they were not host? Whats that got to do with anything? You don't have a footballing nation to host a world cup, its the stadiums you can produce.

But SA has been qualified to WC before and did a good job though...
It's not only the facilities and stadium to deserve to host WC...

South Africa qualified for the WC in 1998 and 2002, and have racked up wins and draws against other teams at the event.

You were still very small when this happened (so I can understand you omitting these details), but that doesn't change the fact that South Africa have demonstrated the ability to qualify for a major tournament in recent history.

              What has Qatar done?

blatter has stated himself that the abilities (world ranking) of the host national team has nothing to do with the bid process so i dont understand why everyone continues to harp on this point

It's a shame, (not to mention a waste of a WC allocation) for an extremely poor side (like Qatar) to qualify as host...simply because they have 'bought' the tournament.

Others have already addressed this but to reiterate, a precious World Cup birth should not be wasted on a country who has proven to be incapable of qualifying on its own regardless of the facilities it can provide. There are many countries with great facilities and past World Cup participation that should be considered first. A country with a horrible team and constant failure to qualify for the World Cup should not be allowed to "buy" its way into the World Cup with its list of stadiums as opposed to results on the field.

why not? The host nation should be selected based on how good of a host they will be. Qatar will have air conditioned stadiums, a convienient time zone so both hemispheres can watch, modern facilities, and all the stadiums are close so fans and players dont have to fly all over the place. Who cares if they suck?

Dude, you & me must be on another brain wave from the rest of them.

Guys, when USA 94 was on I'm sure the team was world class!

2002 japan only qualified once 98 & they were awarded that before they even qualified.

As for south africa their football is super?

For your info: qatar = 0 crime, easy access from all over the world (3 hours from tehran), timing will be great to watch the games, over 20.000 iranians live there so imagine the support, facilities are superb, leisure & night life are great (ask me), last but not least the people of qatar will make you feel welcome & at home.

I'm hoping from all my heart that 2018 is england & 2022 is qatar. They are the best candidates & I have a house in them both so I'll be there. All I need is TM then leave the rest for me.

Your argument would hold if the host wasn't also participating in the tournament. They fail to meet that criteria as Qatar has always failed to do so regardless of how many foreign soccer players they have given Qatari citizenship and how many refs they have saudied in the process. I guess the solution would be for them to host but not participate as they have clearly shown they are not good enough to ever qualify and take part in the World Cup. They should not be permitted to "buy" a ticket for their team into the World Cup. Hopefully their stadiums will sink into the Persian Gulf and so the status of their facilities won't even come into play for their consideration as a host.

How would a small nation like Qatar hold a 32-nation event like the World Cup?

The article keeps referring to Doha, but this is the WC, not the Olympics, and the entire nation is needed not just the biggest city.

Normally a WC will have games all over a nation, in all cities across the nation. But Qatar only has Doha pretty much, I doubt they can accommodate the needs of such a large tournament.

Unless its a joint bid with UAE, but the article doesnt make it seem like that.

They can easily pay for more hotels, infrastructure and stadia, but the point is none of it would be sustainable.
After the World Cup they would have tons of empty buildings just sitting there.

Having said that they easily can meet all the requirements for hosting a World Cup, and as members here have said their performance on the field is not part of the criteria. IF it was I could see why we're even arguing over this.
