England's 30-man provisional squad for the World Cup finals:

Goalkeepers: Joe Hart, David James, Robert Green.

Defenders: Leighton Baines, Jamie Carragher, Ashley Cole, Michael Dawson, Rio Ferdinand, Glen Johnson, Ledley King, John Terry, Matthew Upson, Stephen Warnock.

Midfielders: Gareth Barry, Michael Carrick, Joe Cole, Steven Gerrard, Tom Huddlestone, Adam Johnson, Frank Lampard, Aaron Lennon, James Milner, Scott Parker, Theo Walcott, Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Forwards: Darren Bent, Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Emile Heskey, Wayne Rooney.

The ones that I think that would make way to 23 man-squad is:

        Defenders: Warnock and Upson

Midfielders:[If Barry is fit], Huddlestone, Parker,Wright Phillips, and tough one between Adam Johnson and Joe Cole, can't choose

Strikers: It's ashame, but Bent will be sent back.

Quite happy with the squad, Charragher can play anywhere across the back-four, King and Dawson deserve the call-up..

Midfield, no real surprise really, Huddlestone deserves a call-up, but won't go to the WC, just doesn't have that international pace within him..
Interested to see whether Johnson or Cole would be prefered.. I think the two freindlies vs Mexico and Japan, will decide who....

Rio and JT have struck an amazing combination together, very good communication between them..

King has never let England down, i recall him being Englands best player vs France in Euro 2004, he's got the expereince in the big games, and is very reliable.
Dawson - most improved player in the EPL this year, and deserves his call-up with the squad,

Charragher has this versatility that can play him anywhere, and from the LFC players, him and Reina have been good..

Campbell not as good as before, I would've prefered Upson ahead of him

Yeah I agree, if it wasn't for his injury problems, Ledley King would have been the worlds best CB today. The guy doesn't attend any of tottenhams trainings, he keeps up his shape by swimming in a pool daily, yet he always performs good!!

oh btw why arent aghbonlahor and young there?? young has been better than j.cole this season

no wonder this is your Spain's preferred starters, you are doing it on purpose to Italy have a better chance of beating Spain

I would start this for Spain:
----------------------Casillas (only because of leadership and he is the captain)-------------
                  --Ramos---------------Puyol---------------------------Pique---------------------Capdevilla
                  -------------------------Senna-----------------Alonso------------------------------------
                  -------------------------------------Xavi------------------------------------------------
                  ------------------------Silva------------------Ineista-------------------------------------
                  ------------------------------------Villa---------------------------------------------------

Torres and Fabregas on the bench. espeically in knock-out rounds. that's the way to avoid usual Spain choking. Villa will find a way to score. start Torres and Fab agaisnt Honduras and that crap, but in knock out round play with one striker, and that man is Villa. Torres to come on after 60 minutes to run at tired defenders with his pace...

                        I rate King very highly...

                        To answer your question..

Young is very one-dimensional, he's got great delivery, however defenders can easily read his game. He just doesn't seem to fit in the England side, while Joe Cole is expereinced.. Capello said ' Joe Cole is not the same as before, but he's got a tournament pedigree, and can perform in big stage'

For me, Agonlahor is all about pace, he doesn't score much. Darren Bent, leads the line, scores alot of goals, so deserves it ahead of him...

Agonlahor - 12 goals, good pace.
Bent 24 goals , good pace, good in the air.
Defoe 18 goals, good pace, can score goals, and has played well before for England
Crouch - 20 goals in 37 england caps, is no fluke.. never lets england down
Heskey - hasn't score much this year, only 4 or 5, but very strong, big, and feeds off Rooney well..

You can add Zamora and Carlton Cole, and from the list i gave, Agonlahor really doesn't deserve to go WC
I've learnt it's not what you have in your life, but who you have in your life that counts

no man i have no faith in italy this round, Lippi left out some of the great players; cassano, miccoli.... and if u look at my jersey selection you will see spain along with iran and italy

the list i picked is not much different than urs...i think valdes is better than casillas...look at how many goals casillas conceded these last few years, sure some are defensive mistakes but still...he's not that great....senna is too old and not the same either

If Casillas was playing with the Barca defense and possession style he'd have the record for most clean sheets/less goals in history. H2H Casillas is way better than Valdes if you look at the performances over the years and the mistakes Valdes has made as a keeper.

I bet if Valdes was in Casillas spot he'd be kicked out after the first season and sent out to a smaller club some where in Europe. Casillas is starting for Spain like he always has.
