Yeah. It is true, he was at Villareal for 5 years, and had a really successful side. Villareal were a tough side to beat, I remember some fixtures vs Manchester United, and he would organise them so well.

When a big club comes knocking on you, it is very difficult to reject that. Pelligrini couldn't, to be fair to the man, he got 96 points, and when you get that ammount of points, you must be desperately unlucky not to win the league. Simple matter was that Barcelona were far superior and got the double over them.

He will join another La Liga team, or he may go back to Argentina where he managed before.
Didn't realize the points level was so high in Spain - in a way you feel for Pellegrini, having led them to their highest points total in history.

However the poor showing the CL after all that money spent, as well as losing twice to Barcelona, slammed his grave well shut.

Will be real interesting to see Mourinho there that's for sure. I think that it's the hardest challenge so far of his.

He's a legendary coach. Anyone who saw Argentina in the WC in Germany making 22 passes before scoring goals should know what I mean.

Let's see if Maradona can do better than what he did

            That was not him man.

Its true he is one of the top quality coaches but Real have the power to turn any coach into a failure.
the fact that he always presented huge difficulties for top europeans sides like manchester united who couldnt score against them in 4 games, and real and barca speaks for itself. not to mention he took villarrial to 2nd place above barca in 2008!

but these loses cost him big time:
            4-0 alcornon
            1-0 lyon
            1-0 barca
            0-2 barca

Real Madrid was a big step for him to make. He's still a good coach.

MADRID - Real Madrid undermine the authority of their coaches and cut them out of the decision-making process, Manuel Pellegrini said after his sacking from the post.

Club president Florentino Perez confirmed what local media had been saying for days on Wednesday, when he ushered Pellegrini out of the door to make way for the imminent arrival of Jose Mourinho from Inter Milan.

"I came here with high hopes and great pride to manage this team. Unfortunately I wasn't able to do what I wanted to do and I had differences from the beginning of the season," Pellegrini said in a Cadena Ser radio interview on Thursday.

"There were a lot of disagreements in the club. I asked for them to keep (Wesley) Sneijder and (Arjen) Robben, who were two very important players for me. I missed having a debate on sporting issues, with the coach included.

"As (former Real coach and current Spain boss) Vicente Del Bosque said, even the club show no respect for the position of the coach, and they don't give them the authority internally or externally.

"Florentino's project is extraordinary but I think he's got it wrong."

Pellegrini was signed from Villareal last June to take charge of a team that had 250 million euros spent on new players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Karim Benzema. Robben and Sneijder were sold to help offset the costs.

Under Pellegrini, however, the team fell at the first hurdle in the King's Cup, were knocked out of the Champions League at the last 16 stage, and finished second behind Barcelona in the La Liga.

Not going farther in Europe was Pellegrini's biggest frustration, he said, along with: "Not having felt more involved with the project."

The Chilean added: "I haven't spoken to him (Perez) since August. I respect his stance of the president. He has a sporting project in which I don't fit."

Even before the end of the season, local media were talking up the possibility of Mourinho coming in as his replacement for next season, even though Pellegrini had another year left to run on his contract.

"It hurt... above all because they had already tied up a new coach which isn't ethical," Pellegrini said, before criticising Mourinho for talking to the media about wanting the Real job.

"I wouldn't have spoken about a team that already had a coach in place. It isn't very ethical, but he is a coach that has proven he is a winner in every team he has been with."

That wasn't much significant, because Madrid progressed from that group anyhow.

The head-to-head results with Barca and Lyon result was the key moments of the year for Real Madrid.

look it was not fair to Sack Ramos in the first place and it is not fair to sack Pellegrini, he did come out and say he had no control of the formation and style they had to play.

But on the other hand if you have a chance to sign the "Special One" you would do it.

Lyon cost him the most because it was CL, he shouldn't be blamed for Liga, Barca were too good and he only lost by 1 game.

Yeah the points tally of 96 is great but the 2 losses in El Classico against Barca cost him a lot.
