Messi did everything for Argentina today, ran his ass off and put goals on the plate for his teammates. He really deserved a goal or two himself.

Why does Guiterez who plays left-midfielder/right midfielder for his club play Right-Back for his country? Isn't Burdisso or any natural RB better? Surely with the likes of Robben or Ribery, that can face Argentina later on, that RB is a weakness.

Can anyone explain why he plays there? I'm just curious. He is very good going forward, but will struggle defensively. He wasn't tested much today, but still got booked, and already has two bookings into his name.

timing and placing is everything. A goodstriker knows where to stand just like a good rebounder (dennis rodman) knows where to be. Its not the tip in thats important its the spacing between you and the defender and your relative location with respect to the goal.

I might also add, as a barca fan I like to give all the credit to the barca player and take everything away from the real player, but when credit is due, ITS DUE!

Yea man, his 3rd goal was nicely placed header but the first two were easy tap- ins ..! He was terrible to start the game but his positioning on the goals showed his brilliance..! He was johnee on the spot..! Reminded me of Daei..!

It was a huge mistake by maradona to leave the defensive veteran likes of zanetti & cambiaso out of the squad..! Their defense is highly suspect and unorganized, and if they aren't able to flat-out outscore a quality opponent, they may exit prematurely, due to stupid, weak defending..!
The pure grit and leadership of zanetti in the backline is badly missing, while players such as mascherno or even Tevez can do the dirty work on the DM position..!

Actually Nigeria still have a decent chance. If they beat SK and Greece lose to Argentiana they advance.

SK had entered this match with the wrong mentality and attitude in both halves..!
in the first half they played way too scared, but their late goal i guess gave them too much confidence so they entered the 2nd half trying to get an equalizer RightAway..!! instead they should have kept their composure and played defensive like NK and keep the scoreline 2-1 until 75-80 min. when the nervousness settle in for the Argentines (with the narrow lead..!) and then make a last quarter of the game to start with swift counters and then pure it all in the last 10 mins or so for an equalizer..!!
still they have the goods to beat Nigeria if they approach their game well organized and confident like the greece game..!!
