I think it was a pk though. Even if it wasn't intentional, his arm was the cause that the ball didn't go in.

Compare this with 8-10 handball violations Swiss committed in WC2006.
By far the worst officiated WC in history.
Blatter rules. He decides who wins.
I don't know what is wrong with these Referees?
Kewell never streached any part of his hand or arm to stop a Goal?

no but he got horny and his doodooli distracted the ref. As a result red card for sexual herassement/provocation during football game!
The ref was right on spot!

Even the Australian football experts who were analyzing the 1st half admitted it was a pk and a red card.

i can see what you mean cos it was completely accidental but then again it was more than a goalscoring opportunity lol. So a red was just as acceptable as a yellow if not the better call.

btw, bbc reproted that nicholas anelka has been sent home for his swearing at domenech when he got subed of last game.

Yup, it's either a NO-Call or a whistle/red card/pk..! Fairness got nothing to do with it..!
I don't like the Aussies but I am pulling for them against an African opponent all the way..! AFC in da house baby..!

                    which experts?
The ones at SBS said it was not a red and I agree, maybe a yellow but the hand ball wasnt intentional so it cant be a red card. BS.
Also soon after that Ghana player should have been sent off for a late tackle from behind, thoroughly deserving of a red.
not impressed by the decisions of the refs against Australia in the 2 games.
now we go into the last game aginst serbia needing to beat them by 2-3 goals and hoping germany can smash ghana by a couple of goals.

                    GRACIAS PEP

nah if it is intentional then it is yellow. If any violation which is done by the last man or stops a goalscoring opportunity is a red. Its either red and pen or acidental. Yellow would hvae been fair, but had ghana missed the pen, it would have been unfair on ghana for them to have had a goal stoped by someones hand and still play 11v11

the tackle from behind was a yellow. He got a bit of the ball but it was wreckless.

well any infraction which would interfere with a goal-scoring opportunity is an Automatic Red Card, so the ref had no other option at his disposal once he blew the whistle..! The only thing disconcerting about that event was how at first it seemed the ref wanted to let the play go on but somehow was urged by the Ghana player into blowing his whistle for the questionable hand ball.
Typical Nicholas anelka..! I bet he would feel like like an asss if frenchies somehow make their way to next round..! he sucked asss and was very inactive as a forward and made very little effort opening himself for service over the last two games..! Still, he was allowed to play till way too late in the game ..! If I were domenech I would have brought in Henry in second half in place of completely useless anelka..!

I used to be Ref...may be not for World Cup..but i went through 1 year of training.......even if that ball hit any part of his shoulder or arm and stopped the ball going in ..it was not intentional.

I have no affinity to Australia or GHana ...that was not right what that Ref called.

yeh if that happened in my school team no way would it have been given. But it was 80% the correct call from ref to blow his whistle, and once he did, he had to show red.

Are you saying it was intentional??

The only thing i can say is ...i was not on the pitch and i had no linesmen.

I call it based on what i saw in slow motion on TV...same thing Shayan20 saw.

I think it deserves a red, because it prevented it from being a goal. It may seems harsh, but thats football for you.
