    Lack of world cup officiating

You would think that the World Cup (biggest sporting event in the world) would have a much more serious officiating presence, but yet, incomprehensibly enough, it doesn't!

Only one ref on the pitch, no video playback, no reverse decisions, no goal line cameras, NOTHING! I am completely SHOCKED at the lack of officiating in this sport, I mean, this isn't a pee wee soccer league here, this is a pride of each nation and and millions of ppls on the line, it MUST be treated wayyyyyyy more seriously.

One must think as to why they don't want to tighten up officiating, is fifa scared of introducing video replays and more refs because they fear that they won't be able to play favoritism for certain countries anymore? Probably.

No, I think that FIFA just wants to keep the game as old-fashioned and original as possible, and maintain the flow of the game, which it seems they value more over possible miss-calls. How would there be favoritism for 2 european countries?

that swiss bastard blatter should be kicked out of FIFA. this guy is destroying football. first he chooses the WC to be played in AFRICA!!!!!!! and you could see in the matches that the pitches are shit. then he accepts the worst ball ever made to be played in the most important tournament in the world.

LOl, this is a world game where huge stakes are involved, ur telling me you don't find it necessary to have tighter officiating? Having miss calls disrupts the flow of the game as it is, and for much longer, thats just their stupid excuse, and they favor mainly European countries.

I like the controversy Video replay is good for PS FIFA2010 game. All ref errors and theatrics add another dimension to the game. Imagine if Maradona did not score a goal by hand what could you in England complain about for over 20 years.

Now the goal-line technology is something I can accept - and that's only because I like to see more goals.

if Iran missed a place in the wc cos of shit refereiing would you like the controversy?

Its almost as dumb as when gobrowns said that hooliganism is good cos it adds a dimension to the game

I am not in favor of using replays for offside or foul, but they have to have a goal line camera. There should be no controversy for that. If it passes the line, it's a goal ..... very simple.

This is what happens when you have 80 year old buffoons who have VHS at home, running FIFA :-)

Well it would hurts. But unlike American football, soccer is a global game. So how far down the path do we carry the video replay? How do we know that you really get the true angle from video? Would you allow the ref to override the video? We can also have a chip in players jersey to electronically mark off-sides - would you go that far?

These are all little tings that would make someone unhappy at the end of the day. And don't get me wrong, I am still supporting the goal-line technology. England's goal for example could have been a game changer. Perhaps if not behind England would not have to play all out at the expense of their defense.

No, of course instant replay should be implemented in instances where it is really needed. I will have to side with Gobrowns on the hooliganism aspect however. It is a natural byproduct and part of football and adds a dimension to the game. Who doesnt want to see fans raging and singing and lighting off road flares when their team scores decisive late minute goals? I sure do!

Video replay? Thats too much... In a nutshell, you would want one for diving, tackles, and all sorts??

I just want for GOAL-LINE technology. That would help. Just let the fourth official see it on TV, and give a signal to refree saying 'its a goal'.

Sepp Blatter says it COSTS too much Money?? What the hell? What a poor response.

no only on goals and off-sides that turn into goals and there should be a limit of 2 or 3 challenges per game....and make each of them 90seconds or 2 min. max for the ref to review...this wouldnt hold the match long.

this way, coaches will choose wiseley what they want to challenge and it wont take any longer than when a player fakes injury...if the ref couldnt reach a conclusion after 2 min of review then the call stands as it is.

yeh i understand what you are saying. they should develop a system where you are only allowed 2 appeals, and if your appeal is correct you get another one. But you should only be allowed to appeal if the ref deems it to be controversial, such as a foul in the box or a handball leading to a goal.

i completely agree, but you are describing normal fans. Hooligans do that + knock the shit out of eachotehr and also innocent people.

If they introduce technology, it cant just be goal line, cos thats only like 1/200th of the controversial game changing decisions.
