if you are standing on goal line and save the ball (and you are not he goalie)....that should be considered 100% goal.

Penalty kick has a chance of being saved or missed and it is not a fair substitution for a 100% goal.

Is eliminating Ghana from world cup by stopping a 100% goal by hand, equal to Uruguay getting a red card and a PK?
Nah, I don't think you can change the rules.

You get a penalty, and get that player sent-off. It's not our fault that the players missed the penalty.

Ghana didn't deserve to win after all.

I mostly feel bad for the guy whose header was blocked by suarez. That guy would have been an instant hero in the ENTIRE africa

FIFA decided only a one-match ban

I think he is right. In fact Ghana may have been offiside TWICE in that sequence. I want to see where they were when the ball was crossed.

I think the referee may have cosidered the punching away by the goalie as a Uruguayan posssesion but normally it is not considered a possesion.

On second viewing... I am not sure... I think the ball was cleared by the goale before it was headed by the Ghanian(he did not get a piece of it at all). And in that case it was a "loose ball" and the offside may have been considered cleared.

On third viewing ... oh yeah it was an offside. The goalie did not get much of the ball anyway and even if he did it is normally not considered as "full possession".

honestly...I loved it. he did nothing wrong. everything that happened was within the rules of the game. he committed a foul and was penalized for it. ghana should have converted. this to me was the greatest moment i have ever witnessed in a sporting event. he took a bullet for his country and gave his team a chance to win even if it was a 1% chance. but 1% is better than 0%, which would have been the case if he didnt handle the ball. absolutely gorgeous!!!

But better yet the referee should have called the offside or not get tricked by the Ghanan dive.

The referee must have thought that there was no Ghanan header and it was very difficult to see indeed but on replay it was an offside.

Uruguay literally stripped Ghana naked, harassed them, then stuck it in their
k00n. They blocked the 100% goal, then Gyen missed the penalty, Muslera blocked 2 penalties, then Abreu finished africa off with such a cheeky penalty LOL
