And Holland only had Cruijff?! lol Ajax had won the Europe Cup 1 (CL now) 3 times in a row just before that WC and many players were from Ajax.
Next to Cruijff you had players like:
Arie Haan
Johan Neeskens
Willem van Hanegem
Piet Keizer
Rene and Willy van de Kerkhof
Rob Rensenbrink
Ruud Krol
Johnny Rep
Rijsbergen
etc.
Next to that they had the best coach of that time, and probably ever: Rinus Michels.
So I don't agree with "They had the master Johan and the germans had everyone else!". Germany had sick ass players as well, I know, but Holland as well.Persian Pride running through my veins!

2) The same team now healthy and experienced won the eurocup in 1972. The main core of the team (6 Bayern players) were at their peak and had just finished winning the first of 3 consecutive champions league titles AND they were playing at home!
I know its a matter of opinion but I truly believe that talented and experienced team was the team to beat.
Also personally I think the 1990 Holland was the best they have ever had in terms of talent its just that they choked. That team had 4 of the best players I have ever seen play the game. Their only problem was that they had to beat germany motivated to avenge the 89th minute loss of 88 eurocup!----1990 TM, You will always have a special place in our hearts

Holland 1990 was amazing, indeed. Players like Van Basten, Gullit, Rijkaard, Koeman, Vanenburg, Kieft etc. were unmatched. However, I wouldn't say it was their best team ever. I believe their 1998 team was crazy as well (can't say the best though).
Anyway we all know, at big tournaments Germany is Germany, enough said, kinda impossible to beat them...Last edited by Amin_; 07-04-2010, 03:26 PM.Persian Pride running through my veins!
