LeBron James Plans Weekend Party in South Beach!
    Thursday – July 08, 2010 – 12:13pm

LeBron James has rented six cabanas at the W Hotel South Beach this weekend to celebrate his team decision, two sources confirm to UsMagazine.com.

That adds more fuel to the fire that James, 25, will announce he's joining the Miami Heat Thursday night, as several insiders told ESPN this morning. (He's still confirmed to attend NBA star Carmelo Anthony's Saturday-night wedding to former MTV VJ LaLa Vazquez in NYC.)

The basketball great will make his announcement from the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich, Conn. Thursday night during an hourlong sports special called The Decision, to be aired on ESPN at 9 P.M. ET. Proceeds from commercial sales will be donated to the club.

'A reliable source tells HollywoodLife.com that Miami Heat Team President Pat Riley has rented out the entire second floor of Polpo Restaurant in Greenwich, Conn., for July 8. The restaurant is located near the Boys and Girls Club, where LeBron James will be making his big announcement tonight. Sounds like Pat might have reason to celebrate!'

Great move. Really impressed with his maturity, selflessness, and dedication to winning based on this move.

He would've made 30 million more in Cleveland. He could've been an even bigger international icon in New York. Instead, he's taking a pay cut for less than the maximum salary to play with 2 other superstars.

Why? Because he wants to win. That deserves serious respect.

Open Letter to Fans from Cavaliers Majority Owner Dan Gilbert

              http://www.nba.com/cavaliers/news/gi...er_100708.html

              Dear Cleveland, All Of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight;

As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.

This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his "decision" unlike anything ever "witnessed" in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.

Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.

The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you.

There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you.

You simply don't deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.

You have given so much and deserve so much more.

In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:

"I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER ‘KING’ WINS ONE"

You can take it to the bank.

If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our "motivation" to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels.

Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there.

Sorry, but that's simply not how it works.

This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown "chosen one" sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And "who" we would want them to grow-up to become.

But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called "curse" on Cleveland, Ohio.

The self-declared former "King" will be taking the "curse" with him down south. And until he does "right" by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.

              Just watch.

              Sleep well, Cleveland.

Tomorrow is a new and much brighter day....

I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only:

DELIVERING YOU the championship you have long deserved and is long overdue....

              Dan Gilbert
              Majority Owner
              Cleveland Cavaliers

Dumb, disloyal move. Feel really bad for Cleaveland fans. The supposedly set fire to his jersey and tore his billboard down. I'm personally happy as I previously stated. This form of disloyalty is like purchasing a championship . Instead of staying with the city HE GREW UP IN , he crowardly went on national television and spat in the face of every Cavalier fan.

Classy Lebron, One of 1000 reasons KB24 is a head and shoulder better than you.

with all due respect, WTF are you talking about?

Kobe basically rail roaded shaq and forced him out of the lakers. He *****ed and whined and almost signed with the clippers! To say that lebron james aint classy and Kobe mother effing bryant is shows that your an NBA fan that probly watches like 4 games a year.

I respect lebron jame's decision. He got jack shit in cleveland. He was coached by one of the worst coaches in the nba (mike brown) and he was constantly saddled with ball hogging guards who had the basketball iq of a chicken (larry hughes, jeff mcinnis). The only player that was any good for the cavs was anderson varejo as a grinder. The rest were bums. He got tired of losing, simple.

And if any of you guys start *****ing about this move, im gonna ask you one simple thing: say tomorrow a executive in your line of work comes up to you and says you can work with 2 of your best friends in a great city and achieve more success than you have ever dreamed of, would ANY of you guys say no? Yeah thats what i thought.

lol, cav's owner sounds a little bitter..!
At least, poor sod finally realized that he needs some major help to get a ring. ..!
I'm sure Nike was a major influence in his decision to leave Cleveland ..! They had invested way too much marketing $$$ to make this kid the next Jordan and Cleveland isn't the type of town that anyone gives a fk about in the States & beyond.
He may seem to have accepted a pay-cut to play there but he will make ten folds of that from Nike now that he gets to represent a more glamorous Miami , not to mention a much larger market..!
I don't know who Bosch is sponsored by?? but D.Wade is the key Man for Converse (owned by Nike ) and now LBJ will be wearing a much more marketable Colors of the Jordan's bulls..!( the deep red, kinda burgundy color of cavs is one of the least desirable and marketable apparel and footwear colors..!)
Now, the key for lebron is to establish himself as the man amongst men and he has to justify his hype by wining a ring right-away..!
For which he would most definitely need Pat Riley's coaching assistance, otherwise they will crash out in play-off regardless of their reg. Season record or what not ..!
If his performance gets overshadowed by his supporting cast and he chokes again in playoffs then the king needs to hand over the crown and Nike needs to stop hyping up his boring-asss game and move on to their next messiah..!
Go celtics..! bring shaq and run the table in the east and then the west ..!

u cant blame him for what he did...so what??

paul pierce grew up in la and was a laker fan all his life...then he went to boston and broke the heart of lakers few years ago....its business, its life, its not an army or country he chose

the owner of cavs should be ashamed for saying such things, very unprofessional and out of desperation obviously, he knows he cant find other nba stars to join his team so he's just bitter and talking shit

Sums up exactly what I said.

Yes , Kobe did whine and cry during the Shaq era ,but when the Lakers were going through a re-building process , he didn't pack his bags and leave when he had the chance to. Yes, he did state he wanted to be traded but later decided against it.

Bottom line the game of basketball isn't about BEST FRIENDS and childs play. You want to build a legacy for yourself as the best ever? You cannot do that if you don't win a championship while being the CENTERPIECE of your team. LJ will cement NOTHING as the ANYTHING of the basketball world. We have great players who have won championships such as Parrish , McHale , Pierce , Garnett & Allen to name a few. Even Kobe during the Shaq days. The championships they won will be always judged based on the key stars they had around them and not the work of a superstar surrounded by role players. Like it or not , Lebron made easily the dumbest decision one can make. His numbers will go down , His popularity will decrease & he will never be remembered as a center piece to a championship team. Not neccessarily his fault , he was absorbed with playing with stars & winning rings but nonetheless , we will have to wait and see.

                        LOL @ best friends

wow, I am reading different articles on different websites and people are totally trashing Lebron. I can't beleive I am saying this but I actually feel bad for him.

and just for the record, people are pissed becasue of the way he handled it not for going to Miami. Going to Miami is a different story which in a way is Lebron's admission that I couldn't do it as top dog and I dont want the chanllenge to be the top dog. This article frm SI reflects my sentiments, titled "easy way out". READ THE LAST 2 PARAGRAPHS :

and saeed come on man! You are comparing PP to Lebron? Nobody in LA ever cared about PP. most of L didnt even know him and he didnt even stay around to attend college in souther cali. Lebron was god in Ohio. The cavs literally dumped Andre Miller (who happened to be a top PG back then) so they could increase their odds of winningthe lottery!

and mf doom, You said he almost signed with the clippers. Did Lebron almost sign with the heat!?
Kudos t Kobe for running an over weight distracted shaq out of town. He only won in iami becasue he got a paycut and dropped 30 pounds something the lakers wanted him to do but he DIDNT!

secondly, there was no live tv or even radio event for Kobe. I remmber I was listnening to Fred Rogan on radio when John Ireland came on and said Kobe just agrred to stay a laker and al of that ONLY becasue Jerry Buss promised him players like Elton brand that the clippers had and the lakers didnt.

Last but not least, Kobe had smush parker who besides the lakers nobody in the league wanted him even as a reserve. Cavs had Mo williams an allstar. Give it a rest man. If they were good enough to win 67 in regular season, they should be good enough to win in the playoffs.

yea but the whole piont is this is business, u cant be mad at him, he has a few years to make his mark and this was his chance, people need to look past their own selfish reasons, in sports theres no need to be loyal to ur town, most athletes never even play for their hometown

look at totti for example, he coulda went to some top team to win champions league and maybe more scudetto titles, but he stayed loyal to his town and won a serie A title and few cups in italy but thats it
