The player who scored is Ahmed Radhi...Asian Player of the Year 1988, first year the award was given.

Btw, Iraq is the only country in the world to qualify to the world cup without playing a single home game. Thanks to baba Saddam.

I read somewhere that FIFA back in 1986 ordered both Iraq and Iran in the qualification round to play their home games away, because of the war condition. While Iran refused the offer and withdrew, Iraq actually did play away and qualified.

The only news I recall from back in 1986 concerning Iraq, was about a defender(?) who had spat on the referee's face during a match in Mexico. Some Iranian media then were quick to report the incident.

Yep that happend, he got sent off of course.

Iraq had a relatively poor performance, they could of done so much better if Uday hadn't switched Amu Baba (our legendary Assyrian coach) with a Brazilian coach. It was probably our best squad of all time.

Not to mention crackhead Uday changed our NT colors from green & white...to blue & orange, just for the World Cup!
