but, the Qatar bid has too much going against it:
    - The unbearable and hazardous heat
    - Crap stadiums that look like snails/lizards
    - Waste of a precious WC allocation going to the so-called 'host nation'
    - Lack of pedigree
    - Lack of History
    - Lack of Culture
    - Poor infrastructure to cope with hosting such an event
    - Threat of terrorism
    - Abuse of the Persian Gulf
    - The fact that the whole place will sink into the Persian Gulf much sooner than 2022

    - Air-conditioned stadiums are going to help the heat.
    - Stadiums look beautifully built.
    - FIFA want to expereince a new location for World-Cup.. never been into Middle-East, so all lack of history, culture and pedigree will go out of the way. Qatar is a new country, so to ask for a history, is pushing it.
    - Threat of terrorism is not that high, considering security levels in a WC game will be high. FIFA didn't stop South Africa getting it, when they have the highest crime/rape/traffic accident rates??
    - Abuse of Persian Gulf - good one.. but do FIFA really care?
    - Haven't heard about the last point? Got a link for explanation?

Qatar have the unlimited cash, and facilities to host a fantastic World Cup.. FIFA may vote for them, I'm afraid.

2022 is between Qatar and Australia most likely, we have to see, Qatar is adverting a lot and we know they will spend a lot of money to make things perfect but then Australia is a bigger nation and want to host for the first time, with lots of sporty fans.

      GRACIAS PEP

What about the 2-4 weeks that the footballers spend in the country? The heat is inescapable.

Plus, you are asking world class athletes to perform in conditions that are a danger to their health. Holding a world cup in the middle of an arabian desert in the summer is nothing short of madness.

No. They don't. The whole place is fake and lacking in quality, just like Dubai.

Exactly. They have nothing! No history, culture or pedigree, glad that you can accept this at least.

100 years ago they were nothing but desert peasants who have become Nouveau riche thanks to their black gold. The whole place is a pretentious display of vulgarity.

Come on man. It would be in the heart of the middle east, a few miles from Saudi Arabia - a.k.a terrorism central.

FIFA are a corrupt organisation. But I'm sure that 70+ millions Iranians and those non-Iranians educated enough to value history and culture do care.

Do you care? and if yes, why do you support a bid that so openly abuses and insults Iran?

Yes, It will happen much sooner than 2022. The whole place, including Bahrain and UAE will subside into the Persian Gulf.

USA has more cash than the tiny phallic island of Qatar, so by your reckoning USA would have more power to sway the FIFA officials. Although granted, Qatar 2022 is a sad possibility.

Hopefully they won't. But we know that you would actually be elated if FIFA gives it to Qatar.

Australia would be good as an emerging nation, new continent e.t.c...

but the unsociable hours would be mean that FIFA would lose out on a sh*tload of TV revenue from broadcasting matches, as most of the world wouldn't be able to watch games live, and that is quite a significant negative point for Australia's bid.

Kaveh, I seriously don't want Qatar to win, I was just explaining the reasons WHY Fifa may go for them.

I hope it will be : England 2018 and don't care who gets 2022, but would want USA or Austrailia.

however, I have a feeling it will be Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022, coz FIFA are stupid.

Dude, I don't want Qatar to win either, but the stadiums they are designing are absolutely beautiful and will bring the climate down 10-15 degrees. They'll have plenty of money to fix the other problems.

what about rest of the country? training grounds?

people are not gonna attend, korea-japan of 2002 was already the poorest attended WC, this one for sure lots of people wont go. That heat in the city can actually kill people, i dont even know how the players will play

If they are going to put AC in stadiums, I'm sure they would do the same for training grounds?

Japan/Korea was a killer for the heat, but Qatar are trying to overcome those issues.

I'm watching it on TV, but you can watch it online.

                            Watch here:

                            http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/bidders/live/index.html.

                            Right now its 'Russia' ..

all the countries have all presented it.

                            the 2022 one was yesterday

In 3 and half hours, the results will be announced.

The fact that Putin didn't attend, may mean Russia may lose one or two votes. England worked so hard for the bid, Beckham and the Prime Minister(Cameron) were fantastic.

It will be interesting who will win, too close to call.

I really hope Qatar don't win it, a country with little culture and ultimatley little legacy! I love the Japense and the Koreans, great people! i hope one out of the 2 get the world cup. Don't think the US will get 2022, Clinton ****ed up his speech.

Here's a quick reminder of how the voting process works. The first bid to gain an absolute majority of 12 votes wins but, if nobody manages that first time round, the bid with the fewest votes is eliminated and another round of voting begins. We repeat that process until we have a winner, with Fifa president Sepp Blatter holding the casting vote if two bids are level at 11 votes each. Got that? Good.
